Hi. A few days ago, I participated at Foostival, a community event. Some of the activities were marathons, in which players were racing on the track decided by event creator. The problem is that for this kind of events, the game lacks technical support. You don’t know where to start, the track shape gets confusing and at the end of the marathon, there must be a person to see which player crosses first the finish line. If there are many players participating, it is pretty hard to see. Even more, without clear checkpoints, some of the participants could cheat.
I think that if the player events would have a technical base, it would be easier for communities to create their contests. I imagine an item that would allow the players to create their own track. After usage, you get some skills: one allows you to place the start line, another checkpoints, and the last the finish line. After you complete the track, you invite people to participate to your marathon. Once they accept, the track becomes visible to them. When the marathon starts, all the participants are placed automaticly at the start line. The marathon creator could also give rewards to the winners trough an automated system.
What do you think?

That wouldn’t be a community event, that will become official.

The idea is that everyone could create tracks and invite others. It doesn’t mean to be everytime official. I think it would be super fun. If a checkpoint goes near a vista, there would also be jumping puzzles along the track.
