Community goodwill vs. Community spite ?
Anet’s list of black eyes:
Ferrara – Yossarian!!!
Avignon – Yossarian!!!
Isle of Janthir – Sylvari Mesmer – Alexandre Le Grande
There’s another thread here with people complaining about how its unfair that people who didn’t do the event got a box.
They’re never going to make everyone happy.
First let me preface this with a caveat, i attended the 1 time Karka/lost shores event, and due to bugs, glitches, lag, Gremlins, i never had the chance to finish the event before it ended. With that said, i have also not received one of the Apology chests so many others have gotten recently (some got twice, some even 3 if you include the event acquire).
I do not care if i ever get one of these chests, i am more concerned over how Anet is going to get yet another black eye from this whole fiasco of the lost shores update (ascended gear was 1 black eye, disconnects and rejoins in Fractals another).
What does Anet lose if they just give everyone who had an acct. prior to the lost shores event one of these chests, even for those who never even attended it ? I can tell you nothing since its all virtual items. But giving the population a chest, can generate alot of positive feelings from the community.
Sure it belittles the effort those who got to complete the event, sure it might flood the market with a few choice items, but it will make those who tried and never got to achieve it feel that Anet at least gives a kittens rear end.
There is also another idea, but i am not sure how well this would go over, why not just re-introduce the event for a week, before Wintersday.
I dunno i still enjoy the game, not getting a chest does not make me want to quit playing. Nor does it make me angry at Anet, i just hate to think others will get so pissed off about it, that they might just do that…. Quit.
Try checking later? Or maybe filing a ticket? I didn’t even get to participate in the event and I got a chest, so I’m pretty sure you were supposed to get one.
Arenanet could find the cure for cancer, and there’d be a vocal minority who’s complain they could’ve better spent their time curing AIDS and/or world hunger
I’m beginning to think in future arenanet should stop bending so far backwards to please us because it’s a fools errand and instead stick to their original plans

The only way to solve this, is by sending everyone 1 Lemon.
“OH NOES THE LEMON MARKET IS GOING TO COLLAPSE, WAAAH”
Interesting choice of word-concepts. I think Anet had a lot of goodwill built up going into Lost Shores. Sadly, post patch, they are now running low. Sad, as it’s still a great game at it’s core. Sure, there are technical issues that need work, but it’s a new release and when you’ve got a lot of goodwill there’s no need to be concerned about the title. For many players they are now operating in a post-goodwill phase and they need to focus on not squandering what’s left. If I were them, I would weigh potential further loss of goodwill with every decision I made.

Since launch it seems like ANet has managed to do just about everything wrong.
I mean they launch a one-time event with ridiculously good rewards….the events themselves being either buggy, lag-fests or plagued by other issues….then a technical issue prohibits lots of players from getting the reward. This is already after many non-participants feel cheated that they didn’t have the option to attain these rewards.
Then they manage to screw up the compensation system they drafted up…something…to be honest….most people would have forgotten by now.
This entire thing has just been a series of poor decision making…again and again and again. It’s like this boat is being commandeered by someone who hasn’t played an MMO ever before in his/her life.
I was really excited about the game for so long and it really delivered on most fronts…..but pretty much everything that has happened with the game since launch has been a small disaster.
I mean I literally fear patches now more than I anticipate them because all they contain are more nerfs and bugs to break what little content we have to do.

Yes this was what i was trying to get across, lol wish it was short as you made your reply.
I dunno i was just hoping for a resolution that worked for the majority of players so most of us felt goodwill, and not scorn.
