its the best option for a non sub game for its time.
Lets just hope it knows how to stay above the market.

I just want to see them actually fix the performance of the game. so more people can play and enjoy the game.

I still love the game, but instead of that love growing along with an expanding player base, I see that love diminishing, along with the game’s long term potential, due to some serious issues managing the post launch product.

Every patch is like watching a tug of war between the developers who get the game and those who are determined to repeat every bad MMO mistake possible. Everything new and great gets tarnished by what’s slimy and ugly.

All I can imagine is that there has been a failure in the way the company has transitioned from working as a united front to produce the game vs. the current divisions of the company into not very cohesive sub-units.

I’m also starting to believe that there are probably a very small handful of people at Arenanet who are responsible for the proper decisions being made during the creation of the game that are no longer in the position to operate as a proper filter on the sum total of the ongoing work output of the company. The numerous semi-autonomous work groups are possibly causing issues because of being given too much freedom in how they are affecting the nature of the game.

We’ll never know the full story, but I think we are seeing enough to be able to make the very strong recommendation to upper management that the reins need to be re-tightened and all work flow needs to be better directed by those senior developers who actually get what this game is supposed to be.

I agree on that. Personally I always have had good performance from the game, but that seems to have changed for the worse with the latest patch. I’ve played another MMO recently with graphics on par with GW2 but with incredibly stable performance, which makes the performance loses here even more painful.

I own three B2P games released recently (D3, TSW, and GW2) and GW2 is clearly the most fun. But I still think it needs a lot of work, and there are a lot of fanboys to duke it out with whenever any fix is proposed.

Best MMO I have ever played. I have almost 1000 hours now, and I’m still enjoying every moment. Best purchase I have ever made

Riselight [WvW] – Elementalist
Smough The Cruel [WvW] – Warrior

The issue that I see with GW2 is with it only turning more and more people away by its use of the Gem Store.

The initial issue with GW2 wass that people got bored with lack of things to do after reaching 80 and beating Zhaitan.

Most armor and weapon skins aren’t that appealing… Thus no reason to really grind for aesthetics. (Unlike GW1 which had loads of interesting skins… With an armor art variant for each profession.)

Now they keep introducing new content… but nothing to really “work for” other than Ascended gear. Which, everyone’s arguing isn’t a significant increase to stats. So, why grind for an insignificant stat increase? There’s no visual benefit stating “Hey, I got this cool item!”

The new guild weapons are hideous, while the Flame & Frost weapons (which should have been a reward for completing Braham and Rox’s stories) are limited to BLCs.

NCSOFT wants everyone to become gambling addicts.

I’ve actually stopped logging in, maybe i should complain more, I’m just so terribly underwhelmed with level 80 content Dungeons are some of the worst designed dungeons I have ever played. The Glass Cannon or GTFO mentality of the community and game design apparently is irritating.

I mean I loved, loved 1-80 the first 3 times after that even that became tedious.

WvW is just Zerg vs Zerg.. personally I didn’t find it fun at all. Fractals were alright, but I’d prefer one long epic dungeon where I fight Epic scaled Monsters not randomly teleported fighting meh scaled bosses. I mean would it be so hard to create at leas 10 man content, that has you fighting Huge monsters that feel rewarding when you defeat them? Or is it to much to ask for content that rewards you for having at least 2 support players and not all Glass Cannons… because really a full team of skilled Glass Cannons > than any other make up in the game.. hell there is content that punishes you for not having this makeup… Blah

Don’t get me wrong I love the game but my list of annoyances and complaints are long.

I still say, and haven said repeatedly, that 7 months into the lifespan of an MMO is no time at all. Games are forced to launch too early because the amount of time and money that goes into them is just insane. They launch early and play catch up. For most new games it takes about six months.

Evidence to this fact, some of the features that were supposed to be in the game at launch didn’t appear until many months after launch and some haven’t appeared yet. They simply ran out of time/money and had to release or they had to release for MoP came out or it would have hurt sales badly.

So a new MMO spends the first six months cleaning up the launch mess, and then goes on to fix the core game which is where we are now. It all takes time.

In another year, people will be complaining about completely different issues. lol
