Complaining about overflow and guesting...
You have no solid proof to support yours -.-
Fact is, both factors play into this problem. Only devs know the real statistics. And the fact that have yet to deny it’s an issue may mean there is validity to the problem, and something they are looking in to.

I think it could be either. During the headstart weekend it was more common than not to be pushed into an overflow in the starting areas, and guesting was impossible at the time so that obviously wasn’t the issue.
But at the moment there is no way to prove how much of it is guesting and how much is people on their own server all wanting to do the same events.
Importantly though I think it will calm down soon. If people keep rushing the events the way they are the price of rares and ectos will drop and that will put some of them off. Others will get bored and move on to other things. Just wait a while and the problem will sort itself out.
Which may be why Anet has not said anything about fixing it.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
There is a lot of guesting going on, I can assure you of that. Just look at the map chat before world events.

That’s not how science works, my friend.
If I claim there is a correlation between the elder dragon Zhaitan and the overflow problems (he is obviously stopping you guys from getting all that fat loot), I should have to prove to everyone that my claim is valid…
Not have you all prove to me that it isn’t.
So far, nobody has even a sliver of proof that any of the overflow problems at world events are caused by guesting.
I honestly and truly believe it is just people looking for somewhere to point the blame for missing out on world events.
The overflow servers are caused when too many people enter an area… regardless of if there are guests or not.

Actually…
Scientists would now start to gather data and then proceed to calculate the likelihood of this specific set of data to be generated, under the assumption that there is no correlation. Should this likelihood fall under a predefined threshold (commonly 5%), they would from now on assume that there actually is a correlation, albeit not neccessarily a causal one.
And, yes, scientists are a weird bunch.

There is no easy way to test thing but based on previous evidence, servers like TC saw overflows in a variety of areas where people congregated for farming or otherwise. These places, like LA, have had overflows almost constantly. When you look back to when the game started overflows were rampant everywhere as we all experienced the content at the same sort of pace and filled maps on a server that is absolutely without question high population. The new update returned the issue to due to a single cause, I can say this without fault, event chests having better drops have made people, guesting or not, want them. So even with a small group of guesters a high population server is always going to have a large portion of that population showing up, thus with or without them it will be an overflow or lag issue until people loose interest, just like they lost interest in certain places over time in the world as the game moved on and the overflows from them vanished.
People guest to world events because of the timers.
If Behemoth in my world is 2 more hours, while teh Behemoth in Blackgate was 20 more minutes, I’ll guest over there to do it.
How do I know this? Because my guildies and I all do it. We hop around to minimize the time we spend waiting on the timer.
Another thing is you can tell from the guilds. Guilds I know for a fact which are based on other servers from WvW, I see their tags pretty frequently in CD.
While whether this is the main culprit, we don’t know. However, it does exist.
No one is arguing that people are server hoping, but the impact that it has is the issue. People are claiming without basis that Guesting is the issue, ignoring the FACT that the chest also came out with the patch. If you look at it plainly, there is evidence to back up server population being the major(guesting will contribute to a smaller portion) rather then the newly introduced guesting. Again, look back, high pop servers have always experienced overflows in various areas as well as laggy events like jormag on TC. So there is more reason to say its high population then guesting causing the problem, but that’s not what people care about. they believe that that one guester has taken their place and has ruined things for them specifically, aka being selfish. I would love to see a-net turn off guesting for a day or two just to prove the point about high population, or rather to perform an experiment to stop the argument.
why are you creating a new useless thread to reply to another thread? Is your opinion on the matter somehow so incredibly important that it could not possibly be contained as a direct response to the threads you are answering? Are you super ultra special? Should I have made sure I was wearing clean underwear before addressing you?
There was never a queue for world events before guesting came out.

There was never an large amount who cared to do them before either, the update included an upgrade to these events making people want to go. You can continue to ignore that if you please, but the fact is when a lot of people want something, they go do it. When a large number appear you get lag and over flow. A large number can appear from its own server when the price is right, which it is here. A large number is only a small portion of a high pop and active server.
The real point is:
Who cares WHY it’s happening, it shouldn’t be and Anet should fix it.

This is it in a nut shell we have a BIG problem and they need to fix it.
They should try taking guesting out for awhile and see if it fixes the problem and if not then try something else .

Every patch seems to make this game more unplayable… people are invisible, the lag is unbearable… what the hell is happening at A-net?
I can’t even participate in the Claw of Jormag event on my own server.

nothing has actually changed server/lag capability wise. It’s just that now the loot is better so before you had 50 or so people who saw or heard a dragon was up and went to kill it. Now you get 300+ players doing it since the loot is much better.
I don’t think there is any game ever that can handle 300 people in one spot in one zone and not lag like that. It is just beyond current technological capabilities. The solution should be more overflows if there is a very dense spot, BUT also make sure the events are copied over to the overflows as well so people don’t get screwed.
It’s getting to the point that people are resetting the online event timers on high-pop servers just to screw with either the server residents or guesters.
Makes it a huge pain in the butt for those of us who actually want to do one of the big events for… Oh, I don’t know… DAILY COMPLETION.

Problem is not LA, but everywhere else, specially when everytime you try to go to Sparkfly Fen, Frostgorge Sound, Blazeridge Steppes, and Queensdale (Jesus, a starter area..); overflows… overflows everywhere.
