OK, so I’ve decided to join the legions and post my own complaints. I’ve read so many good posts from smart, patient players who just want this game to be better. I cannot promise that this post won’t re-iterate what has been said before, but I’ll do my best.
Anyways, on to my complaints:

First – I’m tired of having to actually play Guild Wars 2. At what point did it become acceptable to force users to play a game? When did it become OK for a game company to sell a game and then expect us to actually play it? I think I speak for the majority when I say I’m tired of having to use my mouse and keyboard, of having to be in the same room as the game while it’s being played. We have lives – I need time to play Guild Wars 1 for instance; how can I do that when I’m being forced to ‘click click click’ in Guild Wars 2?? Insanity I tell you. I’ve written up a detailed plan for ANet on how they can fix this on my blog.

Second – There are only 4 races and 8 or so classes. This is not enough by a long shot. Once again, I believe I speak with the voice of the majority when I say Guild Wars 2 needs at least two dozen more classes with six more races. There are Skale everywhere in Queensdale – who doesn’t want to play as a Skale Berserker? And again, majority voice speaking here, Trees are such a viable race in Tyria. A Tree Monk – now that is something I’d dress for at Comicon! Come on ANet, I know you can EASILY include this in Guild Wars 2, I’ve done the calculations on the programming and it’d be so easy. Just do it.

Third – This is more about the forums that ANet runs and less about the game itself. I think it’d be a big improvement if the forums were a little stricter on who is allowed to make posts. If ANet were to go ahead and stop those players who post annoying rants about ‘_how much they enjoy this game_’ and ‘_I love Guild Wars 2 because…_’ and especially the posts of ‘_I don’t understand your reasoning, this game is very well put together and has a lot of enjoyable parts – well worth $50_’ posts – those are the WORST.

Anyways, it feels good to get that all off my chest. Thanks for reading and sorry about the “Wall of Text”. Time to get back to playing a really enjoyable game – ugh.

Oh, and to keep this from being too troll-like: I’m new to GW2 and have a few questions – is money in my inventory shared across characters? Can I deposit money in my bank? And why can I not salvage certain items, equipment for example?
Thanks again,
Atlas

I hope most of that is a ‘ha ha’ type thing. If not….I have no words….

Yes, things like gold and karma are shared across your account via the wallet.

No, we can’t deposit money into our banks any longer. We used to have that functionality (similar to GW1), but it went away when the wallet was introduced. Anet’s suggestion was to make a personal guild and use the vault to dump your gold, but be very careful with that.

Certain starter items, karma weapons / armor, wvw armor / weapons, and junk items are not salvage able. Both karma and wvw items used to be salvage able, but the salvaging of them was being abused, so it was removed.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Definitely is; I assume most complaints about this game are ‘ha ha’ types of things, considering what they’re usually about.

Darn, thanks for the info. I just spent a lot of gold thinking it was only going to effect my one character. Oh well. Gold can be placed in Guild Vault’s though? That’s useful, thank you!

Hmm, these items must have been karma bought. Along those same lines I have a piece of armor with an attachment that I can’t salvage or sell – any ideas? I would also like to remove the attachment, I suppose that might require a better salvage kit?

Thanks for the info!

Also, @Lanfear, do you also go by Daughter of the Night? Always good to see fans of The Wheel of Time.

It requires something that costs way more than the upgrade you put in the armor item. Better off just buying or crafting or waiting for the upgrade to drop.

Be cognizant that if you put Gold in your Guild Bank, should your account ever be compromised and the nefarious individual should take all your Gold and items, there would be no way to reclaim anything from your Guild Bank. Just an FYI.

Welcome to Tyria, and good luck!

That’s a great post. Made me laugh. Everyone else covered your questions already.

You’re correct with the comment about the salvage kits. A crude salvage kit will only have a c. 5% chance at recovering the upgrade. Better kits will have a better chance all the way up to a Black Lion salvage kit which is 100%.

Since I think the others covered the follow up questions, I’ll just jump to the one aimed directly at me.

No, typically I don’t….only because too many people (even fans) don’t “get” it. Which, when you come across a fan of the series that doesn’t catch the name translation, tends to make me go hmmmm. And it’s too many characters without modification, sadly.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.
