After completing zones and personal story missions i have come to the conclusion that the rewards on gw2 are far too low and need to be tweaked with the current economy.
And also why do you recieve items that you cant even use for completion of an area? LOGIC? after reaching level 77 i have only 3 gold to show for my efforts due to the extortionate costs of teleporting to waypoints. Thankyou.

TLDR-You arent rewarded enough in Guild Wars 2.

TLDR-You arent rewarded enough in Guild Wars 2.

The main reward is the experience of having fun while playing the game. If you want to grind – play not to have fun experimenting the game, but rather play through mediocre content just to get a reward in the end – there are lots of other MMOs out there exactly like that.

TLDR: if you didn’t enjoy reaching completition, you shouldn’t have done it.

So why provide any rewards at all then? Why have exotic armor which is better than what you get in the course of doing the game etc etc

The rewards are tuned to the level of the zone.

I think the rewards for the level 80 maps are just awesome.

That 6 gold exotic scepter I got for Frostsound Gorge completion was pure win.

To give people a feeling of progression and of change as they play through the game. Not to pretend players are donkeys chasing carrots dangling in front of their faces.

It truly amazes me how many people actually seek grind. When a game designer makes content for grinders, it’s telling his players that they are little better than blind animals being mindlessly foolished by the promise of a reward that will never come (aka, the famous carrot). People should demand better, instead of seeking the mediocrity of grind.

But if playing the game is enough they shouldn’t need that sense of progression.

Please explain how giving players item rewards that they can’t even use for their given profession (like giving an elementalist two pieces of heavy armor for completing a particular map) helps to contribute to the “progression” of that character. Ah, that’s right, it doesn’t.

This is one of many areas that the ANet team needs to work on. Please don’t make excuses for the devs and let’s be honest in admitting that this is something they need to fix.

Remember when our developers talked about “strengthening the core game”?
How’d that work out for us so far?
Now let’s try some ideas that will really work.

personal story rewards are fairly meh till the end you get some gemstore items but are still pretty underwhelming, even the pact weapon you can choose, sure they look mostly cool but they arent even exotic.. you save the world here’s a rare weapon of your choice.

as for map completion, its a bit bleh at times you mostly get stuff you cant use so its for an alt or glob fodder. sometimes tho its a bit frustrating to get like in my case 20 lemongrass and 2x of the same exotic boots that were only worth 60s from completing cursed shore.. was just a complete wtf moment… then on a different character complete mount maelstrom and get a scepter with a sigil worth 4g. rng is fun!.. not

You easily make 20g+ from completion rewards of all 70+ maps.
That’s enough to get a lot of lvl 80 exotic stuff; quite the reward, when you consider all you did was exploring.
