Concerns about Expansion 2
After all the bad designs, no good legendary armor, the new legendary weapons being a joke… story sucking… im really disappointed… if i dont see any good changes on the next expansion i think after almost 5 years im out of here.. sorry Arena Net. But you need to make it good…
If it is at least as enjoyable as HoT was for me then I’ll be excited.

Yep, what a failure it was, only kept you playing for mere 5 years.

These players always make me laugh. The game has its highs and lows. Hot set a great foundation. I’m looking forward to the future of gw, and will continue not to let pessimistic players bring the community down.
It’s pointless to worry about it since (a) none of us can do anything about it at this point (the features have been decided already, although some might not be ready for launch) and (b) I don’t share the same preferences as everyone playing — what I like might be what others hate.
So I’ll pre-order based on ANet’s track record for me: I’ve had great fun playing GW, more playing HoT, and much more than either playing the original GW2 (all new & shiny is always more fun).
Even if GW2/PoF is GW2/PoS, I’ll still have gotten great value for my money.
Yeah imo we are in for a great expansion. I watched a streamer on twitch earlier in the evening who was under NDA and he sounded quite joyful and excited about the future of GW2.
After this very lackluster LW season 3 I am kind of concerned to be honest. I mean at first when there were hints that we would be traveling to Elona I was VERY excited. I like GW1 lore. But after the way they handled the lore this season….I don’t know if I want them touching it. They don’t seem to know how to use the lore properly and integrate it into the story well. The season was an absolute incoherent mess. It’s a shame really. Bringing in all this rich lore should be GW2’s time to shine, not stumble.
Oh well, I hope we get some good maps and features at the very least. -_-
If you feel this way you may want to investigate other games and wait out the reviews. There may be things I don’t like but ANet’s track record is pretty good on additional content including things to do and new places to explore. Will it be 100%, probably not but I look forward to seeing what they have to offer. Good gaming!
De Mortuis Nil Nisi Bonum.
I am enjoying the game quite a bit. I am waiting only to hear what the prices will be and waiting for when I can pre-order for the Ultimate version again. $80 for 3 years of playing then $100 for another 2 years of playing … very good deal in my opinion. So even if it’s another $100 for the ultimate I will pay it.
Between HoT and the continued behavior in LS3 . . I just don’t know if I can expect a good experience with the upcoming expansion.

Mainly WvW player here… I hope the expansion incorporates positive features that improve that game mode.
While I appreciate the rewards overhaul furthermore SOME changes to ‘scoring’ I cannot help but feel the game mode being quite stale in terms of the current meta; class balance, roles and the lack of new skills/traits that tie in and interact with what the game mode has to offer. Would like to see even minor things like new runes that interact with siege e.g; apply a stack of stability when hit by a cata/treb shot or what not. Would be helpful for those manning siege. Idk… even excess world ability points being so redundant.
I’m mainly hoping that each profession gets viable builds in many aspects; power, condi, support roles and what not.
Lots more to say but I’m at work so keepin it short.
After the failure of HOT, i don’t trust anymore Arena.net. Dungeons are dead, the downgrade of some spells effects (Auras, Dragon knight traps), balance it’s still lol in PvP, Fractal who cares for Arena. Guild Wars 1 was a such a better game design comparated from what we have now with Guild Wars 2

At worst it’ll be unfinished on release and make us have to wait for it to become worth the money which HoT became overall only after LS.

Hah! Nice one.
I feel the same way. If it turns out it is GW2/PoS I’ll probably walk away then but I have faith in them given the direction they’ve taken in the last year and a half. If they manage to keep that up and continue to improve on each new release then I’ll be happy.
My fear is that my beloved Mesmer class will be subjected to a long series of nerfs again. Worse, our specialization may be given to some other class.
Mesmer no longer “owns” any particular skill in GW2. Engineers use Moa and Revenants are granting Alacrity.
I don’t know if I can easily deal with another cycle of being excited about a new spec, then seeing it crushed.
i hope we get some more healer classes or even better/more healer builds.
i hope for a 4th specialisation tree. and would be nice if there come a build that
increase power with healing power. i mean i have magis gear on ele but if i have to kill
mobs for a quest the dps is very bad. so then they help healers. becouse healers are nice
in events.
for the xpack. i hope maps like verdant brink. with depth and high.
and i hope no empty maps like lake doric. all about graphics and sound.
story i don’t care. aslong it’s not dutch i don’t understand the whole story
or i must read it in a book and have time to understand it
when hot came ppl said it’s to expensive only 4 maps.
when i entered verdant brink i knew enough so beautiful map is worth the money
???? no empty flat maps without much work in it. dragonis mons also nice map but don’t like the vulcan bad for the eyes.
i hope some nice items in deluxe edition. skins or outfit or mini.
but we will see what we get. i didn’t buy hot at release. (paid) 100
but maybe we will get deluxe for 80 now becouse they lost players cuz price
they waited for a sale.
Hey there… anyone else is feeling this way?
The announcement will be early next week and I am already thinking “will it be good enough?” “Will there be enough content from the start?” “will I be disappointed by the short story again?” and so on…
I guess the time will tell.
Anet, make it good, please!!!
If you are that fixed on expecting to see failure, you probably will.

Mesmer is meta in every game mode, meanwhile other classes aren´t. You have no reason to complain since every class got nerfed since HoT came out.
I’m just waiting for a new race and/or a new profession and I would be sad if there is not.
It’s just my opinion but I like starting the game again with something new.
Sorry for double post, some troubles for deleting the old one.

I’ve played many MMO’s and bought many expansions and hands down HoT is the worst expansion I’ve ever purchased period. It even surpassed Cataclysm my guild died and most of my friends quit the few that remain are the reason I still at least log in every blue moon. Forcing trinity elements and forcing my and other Mesmers into a low dps support role I never wanted. Death of dungeons and underwater with the introduction of raid meta and raid elitism. Gated story and changing the increasing the costs of old recipies breaking the market. Small guilds drying up with the lack of the low grade armor drops from mobs. Also unresolved story elements like Malyck and they waited to the very end to address anything that wasn’t raids.
Some may say fixating on the bad will create that situation but that’s not true at all in practice. Those that overhype are let down and those with no expectations are pleasantly surprised in the end.
My expectations for the expansion are practically zero I’ve never seen such a decline with the veteran base of any game that I’ve seen during HoT. I expect the mesmer to be nerfed some more its core will become more useless and its dps probably the worst of all the elites again. That the Sylvari will once again get zero plant baised gear. Also that they’ll abandon even more systems along with underwater, dungeons, activities, and certain holiday events. I’m not pre-ordering or even buying day one but rather waiting till after to see how it turns out for people. Heck before Hot the forums were so active this very topic would be on its 4th page by now the decline is obvious.
Episode 6 and the HoT story has given me concerns that I wouldn’t normally have. Generally I am very happy and positive about the game, it has steered off course enough times recently for me to be less excited than perhaps I could be.
I’m confident of a decent and fun open world experience, of some cool mechanics, masteries and elite specs, but the story is my real concern. It’s utterly lost its way since the start of HoT. I really hope we get a thorough, huge and immersive story which doesn’t rush to the end.
Not concerned.
I just want new content. But then again, I don’t care about storylines in a game…dont read the dialogues
I’m hoping they won’t just introduce an entirely new mechanic only to have 99% of the different looks be on the gem store (cough cough, gliders)
