Just wondered what everyone thought of the recent change of +ConditionDuration food to +Expertise?

I’ve mained a full condi necro build for a while and was a bit miffed to see that Rare Veggie Pizza, for example, now doesn’t add +20% duration but 100 expertise, which is only 100/15=6.66% duration, a drop of 13.33%!

That effectively reduces my sustained outgoing PvE damage by about 10% and seemed a rather large single nerf.

This is especially odd since it doesn’t really affect WvW, as condition duration is largely irrelevant vs. condition cleansing.

Apologies for any missing forum etiquette here, this is my first post!

Hahaha… no, killing a brainless NPC 1 second slower, that is irrelevant. In PvP combat, minor stuff like this can have a major impact, especially with exponential growth (ie 25 condi necros in a zerg).

That said, only condi users will cry over it. And even then, condi is as strong as ever since Anet seems unable to target OP specs/skills and instead just do overall nerfs. Deathly chill is still insanely OP, poison thief is still OP, confusion/torment mesmer has been OP for 5 years, etc and so on.

Hahaha…

Not necessary.

killing a brainless NPC 1 second slower, that is irrelevant

But surely until HoT, the “full zerker meta” focused precisely on killing dungeon bosses that 1 second faster.

In PvP combat, minor stuff like this can have a major impact, especially with exponential growth (ie 25 condi necros in a zerg).

Fair enough.

That said, only condi users will cry over it.

Well, if by “cry” you mean “object”, then, yes, obviously.

It’s okay for me, I still get 100% condi duration with only super veggie pizza, just need to change a few of my sinister trinket to viper as for now (this indeed will reduce some condi damage).

Also, when PoF is out, from what I see on https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scourge

We have this two nice trait to boost our condi duration:
Fell Beacon – Torch skills gain reduced recharge. Gain expertise based on your condition damage. (Gain Expertise Based on a Percentage of Condition Damage: 7%). Meaning that if I have 2k Condition Damage, I will get +140 expertise
and
Sand Soul – Gain concentration and expertise for each of your active sand shade (Expertise: +75 per Shade). Meaning 3 Sand will give +225 expertise

365 expertise should give about 24% condi duration
This will result in me changing some of my viper to sinister, to get more condi damage as well as condi duration from the trait

My only concern right now is the scourge damage output, since some says scourge will be taking the support path…

Not judging much, are we? Well I guess it can have major impact for all of those 25 PvPers left in GW2.

The strength of heart to face oneself has been made manifest. The persona Carighan has appeared.

Thank you for this information. I wasn’t aware of this. This will certainly offset the food nerf a great deal.

I suppose it is to try to get us to try Scourge, which is fine. Perhaps doesn’t help other classes who have relied on this condition duration food, however…

And, yes, I hope necro group damage is not reduced disproportionately in favour of support; it took until HoT for the necro to be accepted readily into dungeon/group content as it is!

I wish I could upvote this more than once.

Playing GW2 for the story is like expecting plot in a porno. You’ll be left disappointed.

It’s really annoying to me actually. Take something with a 1 sec duration and you have to reach 100% or it does nothing. Right now, with full trailblazer’s on, I cannot hit 100% at all.
