In the Wiki, it says that condition duration cannot be increased over 100%. But on my PVE burn Guardian build, I’ve noticed recently that burn duration past 100% actually show increases in my skill tooltips.

Previously I was running these things for a total of 105% burning duration:

  • 20% – Radiant Fire Trait
  • 45% – Balthazar Runes
  • 40% – Veggie Pizza Food

But when I added these additional things, the tooltip duration kept increasing more:

  • 20% – Smoldering Sigil
  • 10% – Toxic Focusing Crystal

So are the tooltips just bugged and showing increased durations, when the actual conditions applied to enemies are not increasing? Or is the Wiki wrong and condition duration can now be increased with no limit?

I believe that traits can push a duration over 100%. All other sources will be capped at 100% though.

Would Chemical Rounds trait for the Engineer also bypass condition duration if it’s capped at 100% from runes, sigils and food?

Yes it does. With max possible condi duration for burning you should be looking at 15,25s burns from blowtorch compared to 5 seconds base duration.

Hmm…I will try to test this. So in my example, the following would give me 105% without traits:

  • 45% – Balthazar Runes
  • 40% – Veggie Pizza Food
  • 20% – Smoldering Sigil

But that would be capped at 100%. Then adding Radiant Fire trait would give +20% to 120% total?

And in this situation, the +10% from Toxic Focusing Crystal would be lost entirely, since the other runes/sigils/food already hit the 100% cap?

Traits tend to change the tooltip making the base duration longer, which can be extended by food/runes/sigils and so on

So you do not change the “% duration” with the trait but the base condition duration BEFORE the calculation….

This has been the case with lingerring curse (necro) since launch and is changing to be the same on other traits improving durations.

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.
