Confused about how Guilds work in GW2
With the way megaservers are set up now you can hang out with any guild from any sever as long as you are in the same region meaning NA or EU. The only place you can’t hang out with people from a different server is WvW.
ty for that info. Just want to clarify. You mean there is no real separation in servers? So the people I see playing in an area are not necessarily from my server (Ehmery Bay)?
And I don’t have to move over to or be invited to “another server” to play with a friend or guildy?
I have played another MMOG and people had to be on your server in order to play/group with, so guilds were server based. Hence my confusion in assuming that all those players I see running around in game were on my specific server.
Ah……….. I have a lot to learn about this game. lol

Was the case before megaserver’s were introduced.
Server separation only applies to WvW – if you’re interested in that in the future, look for a guild associated with Ehmry Bay. But if you’re not, it doesn’t really matter which server you’re from.
Thanks so much for the info guys. It really helped me sort out my confusion. I googled on GW2 megaservers so now my info on that is current.
Also it now means I can perhaps find a suitable guild without fretting about servers lol
Thanks again
In the future, you may find the Wiki informational: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Main_Page
Welcome to Tyria, and good luck!
A lot of people complained about the Megaserver. But I think it’s actually one of the better and more important things Anet has done. It’s one of several things we have that make other games seem so archaic. I’d like to see it pave the way for future games to just do away with all this “server” business (as far as players have to experience anyway).
The system isn’t without its limitations, but overall I’d say it’s a net benefit. I still miss the “districts” system from GW1, but now Megaservers make things pretty smooth too (when a map isn’t TOO crowded anyway).
