How it was worded was confusing.

Is it one guaranteed rare from any megaboss per account daily?

Or Is it a guaranteed rare for each megaboss per account daily?

You can get a chest from each boss, like you do now. But the guaranteed rare drop is going to come separately. So if you do the same boss twice in the same day, no matter which character you do it on, you’re not guaranteed a rare.

That rare will show up in a chest over your minimap, in the same way your daily chests show up.

So if you go to the Shatterer and you get your daily chest from it, you won’t get that chest again from the Shatterer until it resets the next day. But you can still get the the chest again, just not the guaranteed rare.

The daily chest is once per day. That doesn’t mean you won’t get an event chest, only the daily chest, the one that comes over your minimap.

I don’t believe you’ll be able to get the chest from a dragon on the same character again, but I do believe you’ll be able to get it on different characters. The difference is the one chest with the guaranteed yellow daily will not appear over your minimap the second time you do it. Which means you could defeat Jormag a second time on a different character, but you might not get any rares. You might end up with only blues and greens.

Right now, if you fight Jormag say, you get a guaranteed rare. Sometimes you get two. The one guaranteed rare is being moved out of the dragon chest and being moved to your daily chest for Jormag. that’s all. You still have a chance of getting another yellow, but it’s just that. A chance. You’re not guaranteed it.

Anet have made it really difficult to word what is going on. Hopefully I can clear it up so we’re all on the same page. We’re talking about the guaranteed rare and nothing else.

Example:

Day 1:
Do Jormag on same/different character.
Get guaranteed rare from the daily chest that’s over the mini-map.
Do Shatterer on same/different character.
Do not get guaranteed rare from the daily chest that’s over the mini-map.

Day 2:
Do Shatterer on same/different character.
Get guaranteed rare from the daily chest that’s over the mini-map.
Do Jormag on same/different character.
Do not get guaranteed rare from the daily chest that’s over the mini-map.

etc.

I’ve farmed megabosses over 1000 times before the guaranteed rares were patched in. I never got more than a rare if I was lucky. Making doing the bosses before the guaranteed rares not worth it. So pretty much don’t care about the useless event chests full of blues and greens as always.

The guaranteed rares have been the only way to reliably make money as of late. Or else I would be still stuck having less than 20 gold instead of 70 right now.

Day 1:
Do Jormag with Guardian. Get rare chest and Jormag chest.
Do Jormag with Mesmer. Get Jormag chest only.
Do Shatterer with Guardian. Get rare chest and Shatterer chest.
Do Shatterer with Mesmer. Get Shatterer chest only.

Day 2 to Day n:
Do Jormag with Guardian. Get rare chest and Jormag chest.
Do Jormag with Mesmer. Get Jormag chest only.
Do Shatterer with Guardian. Get rare chest and Shatterer chest.
Do Shatterer with Mesmer. Get Shatterer chest only.

That’s how I see it from the notes.

You should get around 15+ guaranteed rares a day by hopping across all the different events. As opposed to the current system where I successfully farmed 100+ rares today by playing all my alts.

What Declan said is correct! You basically will get a second chest on each boss the first time you do it that day which has the Rare in it.

Although, the normal event chest CAN still give rares/exotics/Precursors but just at a standard drop rate. Which still seems to me like it would be worth doing the easy ones again on alts even for a slim chance at rares since I often get more than 1 anyway.

Now people can hopefully go back to complaining about there not being enough people to do the megabosses!
