Confused about the new trait system
Well, here’s an example.
I have a 52nd and 55th level character (also 4 80s, but they won’t help with the illustration).
I documented my skills before the patch. They still ‘know’ the skills they had opened (using the 40th level guides, I think?), provided they spend points to that level in a given area. So from that stand point, they were grandfathered in, and I still more or less have the value of the skills I got from those training guides.
Where they got shorted and maybe ‘seem’ less grandfathered is because of their level, and how skill points accumulate much later in the game rather that steadily from around 11, those two don’t get to re-open as much as they had opened before. Eventually I’ll get it back, and I’ll have to either buy or quest for the top tier skills later (which I hadn’t bought yet, since I was under 60).
So they technically were grandfathered, but are also subject to the new skill point system based on their current level.
Edit: And should have used the world ‘Talent’ everywhere above rather than ‘Skill’.

Ah ok but what about the silver spent on the guides?
Ah ok but what about the silver spent on the guides?
In my case, since I bought the 2nd book, all those 2nd tier talents were open to me, so I didn’t really lose any value.
They just aren’t old enough yet to respec ‘all’ the same talents they had on before because of the new skill point allotment curve.
If you bought a book, I think that ‘level’ of talents should all be open for that character. The only thing that I ‘think’ would prevent you from specing it is potentially available points?
Alrighty thank you very much
