When GW2 first released, I pre-ordered the Collector’s edition. This was an awesome decision and I love all my cool loot (and have no problems with the extra cost- the GW2 dev team deserves it!). But then the editions were upgraded to include a suit of legacy armour and mithril box.

The official edition chart includes these extras, and claims the Collector’s edition has them; found here:
https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/27658908-Game-Versions-and-Digital-Items
but I, as a Collector’s Edition owner, never got the legacy armour or the box. The chart on the wiki actually reflects this:
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Wars_2
and so now I’m confused. Were those bonus items supposed to be included in the CE, or not?

Do I need to “upgrade” my account to the Digital Deluxe edition for them? I’d prefer to avoid that; both because I already spent $150 ish on the game, and because I prefer my account to remain a “Collector’s Edition” version instead of changing to show the the Digital Deluxe. It’s a silly sentiment, I know; but I think the price tag warrants a BIT of silliness.

If I have to “upgrade” to get those bonuses… Well, there’s better deals for other things in the gem shop. Also, I’d rather save up for the coming expansion right now. :P

Those items as you stated in your post was added later, the previous buyers didn’t get them.

Also, you know you can buy the skins from the Legacy Armor and a 18 slots bag way cheaper than the price of the Digital Deluxe upgrade, right?

The bag I know you can get on the market, but I was not aware that you could get legacy armour anywhere else.

Edit- the wiki agrees. Not that the wiki knows all, but I’ve found it to be pretty trustworthy.

The wiki says the only way to get the legacy armour is from a Heroic Chest, and the only way to get THAT is from either the Heroic edition or Digital Deluxe edition of the game.

The legacy skins is a choice of either Profane, Krytan, or Primeval skin, and those 3 are available in the gem shop.

Okay yeah, I just didn’t do enough clicking. 500 gems per set skin. All together, 1500 gems, 500 cheaper than the DigDel upgrade. Also, taking the upgrade only gets ONE of the skins anyways. Thanks for the heads up!

Though this still raises the question: why do current registrations of the CE get the bonuses, but original copies don’t? We all paid the same price. :/ Or original DD editions for that matter…

Because it is a promotion to draw in new customers. Did the edition you purchased say it would include any future upgrades? How many hours of game play have you had since you bought the game? Would you be willing to erase everything you have earned so far and start over for those items in current edition?

Same reason us later buyers cant complain to anet to get the stuff you got for buying the game much sooner (ie the hero’s ring or w/e).

Also, while the armors individually are cheaper, you’re forgetting about the benefits with the deluxe edition, namely the 2 week golem banker on brand new characters (500 gems EACH) as well as existing characters. If you were a keyrunner (back in the days), that was a massive boon, and well worth the cost of the deluxe edition.
