All these threads complaining about the 1 day April Fools joke are flooding the forum for no good reason aside from the fact that people just like to complain. It is rather sad that such people use real world tragedies to try to make their distaste for the April Fools graphics more valid. If you won’t lock the forum down then please start merging the topics.

I probably will because the forums have been trashed by a bunch of people trying to make something out of nothing. It’s too bad because I usually like it around here. But you are right, I could use a day off.

People complain because they are unhappy.

If you don’t want a lot of complaints don’t do something that will nearly universally annoy people. Or choose to do it and put up with the complaints.

Anet is of the second mentality since they pretty much ignore their forums anyways.

And why should they? It’s mainly reactionary try-hards kittening and moaning.“Nearly Universally”? My guild had a GREAT time tonight. I saw A lot of other people in major cities and SW having a great time. Your hyperbole does not count as statistics.

I think it is insensitive and wrong for you to think people shouldn’t have freedom of speech. If people want to come here and complain they are allowed to. They can create as many threads as they want with their own unique views and ideas and if ANet wants to merge they can. Just because people are voicing their opinions doesn’t mean they hate the game they are just giving opinions. The fact is they aren’t using this tragedy for this reason, people who were effected by the tragedy have spoken out about it and are upset, so it has actually offended people. Also the bigger issue here is just a lack of judgement on so many levels from a major company.

I’d be willing to bet all my gold and tradable items that if the tragedy had occurred via Kenya airlines this would never have even been brought up.

If anything Mods should start merging all these threads. That would make more sense.

Since the response to everyone (myself included) that doesn’t like the april fools “event” is just “don’t play the game today”, I will say the same to you. If you don’t like it, don’t read the forums today. Anet once again failed miserably when they didn’t learn last year that not EVERYONE enjoys their idea of funny april fools things like this. By all means, put this sort of thing in the game. But add a toggle-off feature as well. A huge amount of the player-base said that last year, and they are cramming it down our throats again this year.

You are right and as I stated earlier the forum is trashed now. So I’m going to log out and call it a day. It’s just too bad that people felt the need to start countless threads on the same topic and trash the forums.

I’ll see you all in a day or so.

The mods should seriously step in and start merging though, instead of all this chaos. I’ll leave it at that. Good night.

Good. I really don’t blame them.

I get upset about their lack of transparency often, and then I get over it when I remember that a huge portion of their playerbase is kitten children.

I wouldn’t come around here either.

Why are some people trying to shut other people up?

The April Fools sounds and animations are locking and glitchy. Clearly they were not tested properly.

Trying to deny people from reporting bugs is kinda foolish (sic).

No one is trying to shut people up. Yes my post title might indicate that. However starting countless threads on the same topic is annoying. It floods the forum with the same ideas just over many threads. If anything I blame the mods for not merging all of this mess.

I know I said I was out, and with this I truly am. Happy April Fools all. I’ll see all you that are raging in a day or so when you continue to post here but lost your rage because the 1 day event is over and you survived it.

If mods choose to do that then yeah it would save the overload on the forums. I also don’t think you are right. People care about current events and how things effect other human beings. Most people don’t like to offend others and I think a lot of people would still say they had an issue no matter where the event occurred. Just because people don’t care about being insensitive on the internet 85% of the time doesn’t mean people are like that in real life.

your comment is asinine and helps no one. If you don’t like people’s opinions don’t read them. No one should be banned for giving their opinion or making “redundant” threads. If they choose to merge threads that is fine but no one is at fault for giving their opinions. It’s a public forum.

Actually Mr. Armchair game designer, people have been caught out using the Germanwings crash and playing the holier-than-thou card not out of sympathy but because they just don’t like the event, which is really disgusting.

Do not let the GW2 forums become the new Tumblr!

Yes and I moderate other forums and happen to know forum “manners”. There’s NO legit reason for 1,000 different people to create 1,001 threads on the SAME exact thing when they could be all stated in ONE thread. Thank god I’m not a moderator here, because the exact action I stated, is exactly the action I would take for people being so rude by not just using ONE thread (it’s more work for the poor moderators to merge threads than they should have to do if people just stuck to simple forum etiquette)! It’s not about not allowing people to express themselves, it’s about asking people to mind their manners, people who don’t mind their manners should have posting privileges removed!

This is probably one of the worst ideas a online company can do in regards to managing the community, especially in regards to an MMO. Actually games have tried it in the past, it usually makes the situation much much worse.

You wouldn’t want to be a member of the alternate-history discussion forum I belong to then. The administrator and moderator team take a very dim view of bad manners in any form and have never been shy about kicking misbehavers or banning persistent/incorrigible infractors.
