Hi everyone, checking up on reddit and found this very good article regarding the state of GW2. We may not all agree; to some of us things are going well, to others its not so well, but I think we can all agree that there have been many abandoned ideas in GW2.

I am a big fan of the game, so far I have supported Anet with so many gems, since I do believe this game to be my favorite MMO, yet… why no updates on dungeons, world bosses, and consistency with the games features?

Read up or ignore, but it is a very interesting article:

Ideas get “abandoned” because they either don’t work, or because people complain about them and demand that they are “fixed”.

And here is a link for people that might be interested in reading the blog but at the same time don’t want to support people getting money for click-bait articles: http://unvis.it/huntersinsight.wordpress.com/2015/07/23/consistently-inconsistent/

I agree with most points, but he complains about throwing gold at the game. That’s what it is, a back-end gold sink. Just like any other MMO, you either pay up front or at the end.

Still, you think they could’ve added one dungeon. One.

Yeah, like the TA forward up path got removed, because people asked for the final fight to be fixed, and Anet couldn’t be bothered to do that – even if it got broken only because they decided to tweak it for no reason.

Or like dungeon team got canned, because they thought that the fact most players dislike ridiculously overtuned Aether dungeon means those very same people dislike all of the dungeons.

I think they have not added any additional dungeons because they do not like that format any more.

I cannot blame them to be honest.

I suppose we are ignoring the fact that the dungeon team ceased to exist rather long before Aether path was released?

Well, there are other things other than dungeons that are canned: World Bosses updates, some missing stats on equipments, etc. I feel bad because there are many excellent ideas that were just not followed thru to the end. Fractals comes to mind… every time I even THINK of doing a fractal, I shrug…

They didn’t bother fixing it because it was going to get removed anyway. TA also has too many similar boss fights so if one was going to get removed then might as well remove the buggy one.

It got bugged after an anet “fix” way before Aether path. They claimed later that they decided to remove it because almost noone was running it for a long time (which wasn’t surprising, as the bug made it unfinishable for like 99% of the players). Just as they later claimed that they’re not interested in doing new dungeons anymore, because Aether path wasn’t exactly a success (which, again, was hardly a surprise).

The truth it, it was an easier decision for them to scrap that one path rather than revert the change that broke it (which would mean admitting to a messup), and scrap dungeon idea rather than admit that their last dungeon brainstorm wasn’t as smart as they thought it was.
