Hello, I wish to offer constructive solution to recent changes.
First off, yes I am one of the players whom, for various reasons, this new patch has made playing unappealing. However, I would rather find a solution than quit playing altogether. So here is my idea, and please, please keep all comments constructive.

1. Make exotics ascendable into the new stats. In this way my crafting work maintains value and my current and all future exotics (for alts and different builds) are part of the journey to best in slot, rather than something I may just skip as it competes with time and materials for getting ascended.

I myself have made a suggestion thread about this very topic with a write up of a potential solution. You can find it here.

The answer is simple. Just lower the stats to what they should be and make it so that its only trait that makes it stronger is its viability in fractal dungeons for that little slot the gear has. People will still work their butts off for the Ascended equipment for nothing more than the cosmetic gain anyways! This is actually the direction I would love for Anet to go. Continue on and make the whole Ascended set, please by all means. Just don’t make the stats better. That wasn’t what you needed to make your player base happy.

I agree with your suggestions and enjoyed reading them, however I feel that there is an irreversible precedent with the already added stats that cannot be retconned.
I don’t like it, mind you, I am offering a solution to appease the majority, both those that like the new gear and those that don’t. It is of course a little painful for both sides I believe.

bring back the “Infusion by Seer” system, present in Guild Wars 1. that way, all it takes is some Karka Essence to “infuse” our armor. that way, exotics stay awesome, players keep their current sets, and players have a cheap way to combat future content, without grind.

make it some kind of hour-long event chain, or something, so it feels awesome and worth it. or tie it in with the possibly repeating "Karka chain " over the weekend. Chest drops and karka infuse essence.

note: karka essence, if dropped from karka ancient, required should be like, 2 essences (ancient drop when it dies) max for currently equipped gear (everything, armor, accessories, weapons, etc). that way, it makes it not much of a grind – two 3 hour event chains – easy stuff guys! or one essence per piece, which makes it 6 for just armor, not trinkets/accessories.

Thank you. I can’t predict what kind of backlash there would be if the Ascended items were ‘downgraded’ to enhanced Exotics. People will ragequit over just about anything, however they often seem to come back once they calm down. One of the selling points of the Guild Wars franchise is the ability to stop playing for months, or even years at a time and then to come back and still be on par with everyone else.

You cannot please everybody and the ‘Content Locusts’ are literally impossible to please for any extended amount of time. I feel that the backlash from retconning Ascended items will be less then the current backlash over their introduction.

Yeah…since the release of this abomination was in the form of accessories. They can’t change the stats and make anyone who has any Ascended gear happy because they can’t cosmetically reward the players with these items. This thought gives me an inky feeling about Anet :S
Seems like an intentional attack.

I would rather attribute this issue to an honest mistake rather then an intentional attack.

Yes, perhaps that is true and again, I am of the mindset that would be most pleased by it. But another component of the compromise I am advocating is that it allows ANET to stand behind their recent decisions and additions without apologizing or admitting fault.
Why? Because it is easier to work with people if you let them retain their dignity. I realize the can of worms this statement opens, (what about my dignity?!) but here again I am willing to let go of something in order to gain a workable solution.

Please remain constructive. Emotionally charged words and phrases, while gratifying personally, detract from progress. Thank you, and I am with you truly.

I feel that my suggestion, once properly refined by the community and ANET is a compromise that does not admit fault. That said I am biased in that I am also one to give up something that is over powered for the sake of overall balance and fun.

I see what you are saying and I appreciate the spirit and eye toward compromise it embodies.
