People seem to forget or just ingore the fact that you can convert gold to gems instead of buying gems for cash. If you don’t want to buy gems with cash, because of any reason you have, then you convert gold to buy gems and with those gems you can buy anything in the gem store.

If people are still going to start threads whining about the Gem Store and how ArenaNet only focuses on the gem store because of greed, when there is a way to buy stuff from gem store with in-game currency, then people really are spoiled brats.

What I’m saying is the convert rate from gold to gems is too low. Unless you are a pro TP flipper, it isn’t worth to buy gems with your hard earned gold.

Pretty sure maestrochino is implying that the amount of Gold required for a decent amount of Gems is pretty high for most players. ~800 gems usually equates to upwards of 30-40G, which is more than what most players are able to afford. That, coupled with the fact that the amount of effort required to earn that gold vs. the eventual payoff of a gem store item usually isn’t really worth it in my opinion, at least.

If you don’t have the time to earn gold in-game then you can buy gems with cash. You don’t even have to spend anything in the gem store, there’s stuff in-game you can earn. If you say anything else you’re a spoiled human being.

You can also get 400 gems every 5k Achievement Points which can lower the cost of getting anything Gemstore related. Depends on how often you visit the Gemstore of course.

Also, buying during sales is an excellent way to save your gold/money.

Run the world boss run after a reset on a high populated server where they go down fairly easily. If you manage the items that you get properly you will come out with on average 35-50gold a night for under 2 hours of work. Basically the 2 hours because you are waiting for bosses to spawn. So in 2 days you could have anything that is on the the gemstore for under 1000 gems. But people will always still complain the game is P2W because you have the option to spend R/L money for the people that do not want to spend the 4 hours of gameplay to get the same item.

If they can not log in and get exactly what they want with exactly the amount of effort they want to provide, there will be complaints.

Spoiled Brats? REALLY? The spoiled brats, imho, are those who can sit around with no job, no life, and rest on their parents income and play the game 24/7 to farm gold.

First, There is NO WAY you can earn 30-50g in 2 hours at a sustained rate, but even if you could, 25 gold at the current game rate is 270 gems or roughly 3 dollars. No thank you – I have a real job. In other words, I can work for one hour, buy more than 10 times that number of gems, and then actually play the game for its content.

Just my two coppers worth,
