It’s a programming error. Instead of “function load_halloween_2014()”, they did “function load_halloween_2013()”. An easy to make mistake, but it’s too late to fix it now. The 2014 content will be next year

The same Halloween story from last year is still there for this year. Was there no intention to continue the story of the bloody prince? I don’t like it. ArenaNet seem very lazy and not very passionate. I doubt you want it to look like that.
We were basically informed of this a while ago. It’s a bit sad they couldn’t copy paste 2012 content (even though I do believe a lot of players asked for it), but yeah.

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.
As a coder, I have made this mistake. Usually with variables. I assume it happens to everyone. Sometimes something as simple as:
$items=array(‘Eternity’, ‘Twilight’, ‘Sunrise’, … ); // create an array
foreach($item as $value) echo $value; // go through all elements in that array and print them
then when you run it, it just prints nothing. no error, no weird text, just nothing. you yell at the screen, “WHY WON’T YOU WORK!?!?”, then an hour of googling later, you realize you misspelled the variable ($item should of been $items)

@Mystic Don’t get me started on how many times I’ve put one too few or many parenthesis when python coding.
Lol. I totally skipped 2013 halloween and I feel totally fine with what we have right now.
But was the SAME exact thing here last year? that seems to be really BS.
We knew at launch that Anet was planning on creating festivals with the intent of just reusing them over and over each year, with minor (if any) changes to them. It was the same way in GW1.

They then decided to swap out two of the activities for the start of a story in Hallowe’en. We’ve now had this chapter of the story twice. I’m fine with the bulk of a holiday event being repeated, maybe with a few new rewards added in or something (GW1 gave us a new hat each year, not the same mesmery mask two years in a row). But the story… repeating that same chapter felt really lazy to me. If you’re going to add a story, follow through with it.

I think we’ll see more story eventually. We did after some time in GW1 as well, but it wasn’t every year at first.
Also, keep in mind that they tried tying Halloween to the LS last year too, and they didn’t go that route this year. Holiday festivals aren’t part of the LS anymore (which I think will be a good thing in the long run).
Also, going to say again, this is China’s first Halloween. So that might be part of it too. Since they want to keep patch things synced, supposedly.
