Just throwing an idea out there.. I propose a core tyrian mastery where you can quickly switch between builds.

An example would be for my necro. Sometimes I want to play around with a power build, and sometimes I want to play around with a condi build. It’d be really nice I could go to the hero panel and make the whole switch (weapons, armor, specializations, etc.) in one click.

I think that’s something where you could add a whole new mastery track (tier one just just changes weapons, second is armor, etc.).

I disagree. This should be something available to all players, not just those that bought the expansion. Making it a mastery would exclude any person who didn’t buy HoT from being able to do this

I assume this has been asked multiple times before? sounds like a prety good qol system.

I can’t think of any reason that people would object to ANet adding build swapping to the game. However, why should it be gated behind a mastery?

I think trait/utility swapping should be part of the base game. I’d be okay with ANet gating gear swaps as a mastery. For example:

  • Everyone: load “viper necro” gives you the Reaper line + BiP/epi (or whatever you choose).
  • Tier 1 mastery: designate a “slot” for the weapons you load with this build (weapons must be in inventory)
  • Tier 2 mastery: designate an armor slot

And so on (ideally, with some sort of way to bank sigils and/or runes and/or additional sets for temporary weapon sets). Or a max tier might reduce the cooldown on buildswapping.

tl;dr love the idea of build swapping; don’t think the core ability should be gated behind a mastery

Build (and gear) templates with on the fly swapping have been requested for years. People had high hopes they would come with HoT only to have the devs say “we know this is a really good idea but it’s not part of the expansion.”

The devs know we want it, they acknowledge it’s a good idea, so we can only hope they are finding a way to implement it and will give it to us some day.

I agree that it should be a base game change, though as someone that stays current with all the content as it is released it would not personally affect me to have it only with paid content. It’s just too fundamental a game system to withhold from a sizable hunk of players. More players = more life in the game, more possible friends, more future customers who love playing but want to go up to the cool things like gliding. Too many pay walls can drive those players away.

I agree IWN. Build saving/swapping was built into GW and available to all players. I can think of many things that would be better served as a Tyria mastery line than something that should be fundamental.
