Guild Wars 2

So I know this won’t be a popular topic because it seems like people want the weird items right now but I’d like to know if there will ever be some serious time taken by the design crew into the back items. What I’m looking for is the kind that are typical for the medieval times for various jobs. I am only mentioning this as an example because I played this other game for years and they have a total of about 15 different kinds of backpacks and I’d hoped to see that kind of detail in this game when I learned of the backpieces. LOTRO has some of the best backpacks, mapmaker, cook, treasurehunter, sachels, a backpack with tools hanging off that looks like it’s for gathering. There’s just alot there.

I recently purchased the Magitech armor and I wanted something to match for my engineer but have yet to see anything. Also, I might pickup my ranger again (despite one of my threads saying I deleted mine, something told me to hang onto it at level 50) and there are plenty of bonelike armor sets for me to choose from I’d love something savage looking. So my question is this.

Will there be backpacks that one can buy from the store that match the racial armor sets or the store armor cosmetic sets in the near future?

I’m only linking this as examples please don’t take offense.

black dragon wings
a cup that spouts giant soap bubbles that rise and pop in midair at a certain point
a halloween back bucket full of candy
a watering can backpack that drops watery footsteps while you walk
a big giant yellow smiley backpack
a big giant yellow sad smiley backpack

The new backpack looks good for your engineer, besides, we already have enough backpacks, and some of them even looked like the ones you suggested, unfortunately they are all tied to LS, but the current one you can get is pretty nice.

After all these back items I gave up hope on getting a serious looking back piece.

The Universal Multitool Pack sounds like what you described from LOTRO – it’s a big backpack with a lot of different tools and things hanging off it. It’s an engineer starter item but you can transmute it to make it account bound and then pass it to other characters.

If that’s not quite crazy enough for you there’s also the Zephyr Rucksack which is bigger and has even more stuff. Including a toucan. For a smaller version there’s the Toymakers bag which is likely to be available again in December or the various Guild Backpacks which you get with commendations.

Other than that you’ve got books, quivers, flowers, wings, giant glowing wind catchers, flags, cute stuffed animals, whatever the Fractal Capacitor is and for the next few weeks the Slickpack which is a giant tube spraying green stuff. At some point in the future at least some versions of the glowing SAB backpacks will be available again too.

The back pieces in this game are some of the worst, most unoriginal back pieces I’ve seen in any game ever in my opinion. I’d give both my legs to see capes in Guild Wars 2

You’ve clearly never seen the Zephyr Rucksack (pretty much the most awesome skin in the game IMO) or the Tiger Charr Backpack.

I’d like motivation to actually use a backpiece skin on my engineer, since the kits all overwrite it anyway.

Only really good backpiece i saw in gw2 is rox’s quiver, book and fractal quiver are looking kinda meh but still ok. New coffe machine backpack from TA ls is not bad but only really fits with limited amounts of armors and looks.
Rest is kidde junk like wings and more wings…they are seriously ruining my immersion when im all blood leagion charr on lookout for rebels and a guys with blue wings run by flapping them all over the place. =/

I completely agree. But then again, immersion doesn’t exist in this game for that reason. You defeat a giant dragon with a powerful cannon, and then you see candy sword canes, toy sack back pieces, and wings that are the norm for gw2, apparently.

A turtle-shell backpack? Yes, please.
