According to the most recent poll I could find (link provided below) approximately 9% of Guild Wars 2 players are not getting the full experience from cosmetic based weapon progression, and are being left out of the intended level of enjoyment from all the recently added back piece skins from Living Story events and the gem shop.

This profession is built largely around the concept of using environmental weapons and bundles to offset the rather limited ability of its primary weapon sets, and total lack of weapon swapping in combat. However due to what many consider poor design this profession is often forced to rely on those bundles almost exclusively. The nature of these bundles is that they override the appearance of both equipped weapons and back pieces, and are displayed even when the hide back slot option is enabled. Obviously this has raised a great deal of concern among players of this profession and inspired many, many threads the topic. Threads that are either ignored completely, shuffled out of sight into the depths of profession specific forums to die, or both.

Most notably on a personal level, as a player of this profession, I find myself underwhelmed at max level because this bundle dependence all but negates the worth of any and all weapon skins, be they dungeon based, Living Story rewards, exotic, mystic forge based, and of course legendary.

A ray of hope happened two months ago when Colin “Brohanson” popped into a now doomed thread to announce that Arena Net was aware of this issue, and investigating a solution. However he was also clear that before any progress on this front could be made Arena Net first sought to focus on necessary technical issues such as like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, and spectator mode. No one disagreed to this priority, except it seems for Arena Net themselves. In the months that followed, as complains about those very same higher priority issues persist, we have seen numerous new weapon sets, back skins, gem store clothing, and entirely new skins and animations for enemy groups. Clearly such purely cosmetic issues are a higher priority than was first admitted.

But some of you may be asking why I made this thread. The answer is simple; I’m not going to let this issue die. Period. I don’t care how many threads on the topic or ignored; I’ll keep bumping them. I don’t care how many threads are deleted; I’ll keep making them. And I don’t care how many threads are moved to sub-forums to die; I’ll just make new ones here.

Quiet you. The mods already sent my last thread to that sub forum to die, and I don’t want to have to make another one so soon.
