I am new to the game and was going to start looking at crafting and was curious how hard it is to get to be able to craft 20 slot bags which I believe is the biggest bags correct?

I don’t see a crafter forum and didn’t see anything talking about this, but I read on other places that you can craft bags in either Armorsmith, Leatherworker or Tailor. Is this correct?

I have seen the bags on the market and they are quite expensive for a new player anyway so thought maybe it would be better to level up a crafter since I will be playing multiple toons.

This is actually a great time to go for bags. Farm youself a lot of candycorn, 3000 to be exact. You can exchange those for 3 candy corn cobs and those again for a halloween pail with 20 slots.

Otherwise, yes you can craft with those three professions, but they will still be quite expensive as you need a rune that costs 10G.

I don’t know what fractal is but will try to research that thanks. You can get multiple 20 slot bags doing this?

You need to get your crafting level up to 400. It takes a while, so you might want to craft bags of size 8 to 18 along the way. Not too many, though, as they’ll become useless once you have 20-slot bags to fill your inventory slots.

If you’re new to crafting, GW2crafts.net is generally a good place to start, if you want to craft efficiently. It won’t teach you to craft bags, but simply crafting bags isn’t going to get you very far.

Just a tip, you might consider 18-slot bags instead of 20-slot. 20-slot bags require Superior Rune of Holding, which costs ten gold from a vendor. 18-slots require Greater Rune of Holding, which is only 2 gold. Most of my characters make due with 18 slot bags.

You can craft bags with armorsmith, leatherworker, or tailor. They vary in cost a little, because of differences in the price of cloth/leather/metal materials, but you can craft bags with any of the three types. Check those Rune links for recipes, and check out the Minor, Regular, and Major Rune of Holding pages for lower-level recipes.

Candycorn appears everywhere in Tyria (except Orr, maybe). But, you get a lot more if you go into the Mad King’s dungeon.

If you go into the dungeon, bring along some copper mining picks (unless you have one of the infinite ones).

Or just buy the cobs on the TP. currently about 7g for 3 (= 1 bag) and will fall throughout the event.

Thanks for the info. So can you get as many bags as you want from the candy corn or just one per account or one per character?

You could kit out all toons and all their bag slots. No Trick – all treat!

It is worth learning to craft bags if you’re in a guild however. bags are one of the many, many weird and esoteric things required in the new upgrade system. But for personal bags? go candy corn or fractals.

I recommend fractals. You get completely free (they cost ’fractal currency – wich is rewarded by playing that mode, but the currency isnt worth money, so using it on this – usefull thing = free in my eyes) 20 slot bags.

Basically you do fractals. Get a few tokens, get them up to 150, boom done. Also the daily chest give a relic, wich can be trade for 15 tokens (so 10 days of lvl 1 fractal) should get you a bag (unless they overhauled it to much today).

Second best option is Halloween pail bag. Best way is pvp reward track, cause that one reward a completely free bag if finished. But since you are new, pvp can be a bit hard. Just farming halloween (mad kings labyrint), will give you lots of candy corn. Every 3000 = 20 slot bag

Crafting is the worst idea ever. Rune of holding cost 10g. This makes the price of 20 slot bags so high, that it’s for a year already cheaper to get them via the candy corn way.

If you are serious about the game (want to do everything in the end a bit), then I recommend fractals. Just a few of those and you’ll quickly get the 20 slot bags, and that with a minimal cost/effort. I now got about 15 characters with 7 (+1 the base backpack) 20 slot bags. 90% of the bags is from fractals, 8% from Halloween (candy corn option), and the last is a few crafted bags, and free 20 slot bags from living story/achievements.

Legendary weapons can be hidden now!
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.
