Guild Wars 2

Ok so I picked the game back recently (no living story episodes at all) and decided crafting mawdrey as my ascended back with celestial stat after reading you could buy materials normally gathered in living story s2 with laurels.
So i crafted the first form (mysterious vine) this way and went on the second form only to find out that you need some chaos orb you only get completing episode 4 of living story.

2 questions :
- Why would Anet make some materials available with laurels and some not ? Is this a way to trick people in the middle of the process of crafting Mawdrey to buy the episodes anyway ?
- Can i get away with only buying episode 4 or do i have to get the whole package (which i have no interest in -story or skins alike-) ?

IIRC buying the seed with laurels was only introduced because of a bug at the time of release.

You don’t need the entirety of season 2, only episodes 3 and 4.

I didn’t know you could buy those things with laurels. Interesting.

If some of them can be bought, then I would really expect this to be an oversight. Report it as a bug.

Azarr Softhoof, a npc in Dry Top offers to sell you for laurels : Ley Line Infused Stone, Vial of Sacred Glacial Water, Pile of Phantasmal Residue.
All of which are rewards from season 2 with no purpose (to my knowledge) other than crafting Mawdrey. Why bother having that vendor up if all materials aren’t available this way ? It must be an oversight and then you’re right Garambola i should bug report it.

Selene, thank you, why episode 3 though ? dulfys mentions rewards from dragon’s reach pt2 but not one…
