Crafting for Others (Ascended/Soulbound)
i don’t think this is possible here but what you could is collect whatever materials they will need do as much as you can for them and then just instruct what to do , course they will need 500 crafting in whatever type of armor they want first
They won’t do this for the same reasons that they don’t have player to player trading.
Its a way to make sure that certain items cant be bought with gold but you have to “achieve” them in game.

If your friends who hate crafting are willing to spring some gold, http://www.gw2crafts.net/ has fast guides for reaching 500 in any crafting discipline in very little time. It’s relatively expensive (depending on the gold you have, anyway), but they’ll be able to get their ascended gear with the least amount of effort.

Everybody has the time to get ascended gear. Just gotta work on it a little every day until you get there. Now, that might take a long time, but fortunately you can do most anything in the game and be making progress toward it, as long as you’re getting money.
It sounds like your friends are too lazy to do the work and get the reward, so I don’t know why you want to do it for them. They can have ascended gear when they put in the effort to get it.

Yes true, but one is a father of a 4 year old and a soon to be father of a second child, and another is in the process of a new job, and getting married. They can play maybe a couple times a week, and we enjoy adventuring together as opposed to sitting around a crafting station. It is not so much they want ascended gear, as it is the skins. They are not lazy, they just have to prioritize their game time. My own wife personally prefers playing more than sitting down and leveling crafting.
This is not laziness so much as differences in priorities and enjoyment.
My topic was on the possibility of this, or if perhaps it is a thought for the future.
If it’s only the skins and they don’t mind getting “crappy” stats, there’s still the chance to get ascended weapon chests from guild missions and fractals, if that’s something they do enjoy.
Other than that, one kind of ascended skin drops from Tequatl – the weapons of the Sunless. Those skins are pretty rad, especially for necromancers or darker themed characters in general.

Oh really? I did not know that! Thanks for the insight!
I hear you, honestly the only work around I can think of is to mail them “packages” of materials to get them to the level needed. make it as simple as open the mail and click he numbers the right amount of times.
After I had bought all the perquisites it took me about 45 minutes to click enough to get to 500
yep and then buy them the mats for the ascended pieces as well , well as much as you can some things are account bound
They really do not want to take the time, energy, and money (or simply do not have the time, energy, or money) to sink into ascended gear, but they love the skins.
Said no one ever.
Ascended skins are some of the ugliest skins out there. The only reason people run around with them is to show off that they have ascended gear or they are too lazy to change the skins.

I like ascended skins…especially the medium armor.

With limited time to play, there are just some things that unfortunately will just be unavailable to your friends. Even if it’s just the skins they want. The unique appearance is part of the reward of putting in the time, effort, and gold to craft it. There are a lot of skins available to casual players. I don’t see the need to make every skin available to everyone, all the time.

I like most of the Ascended Weapon skins and several parts of armor though not the whole suit of any weight.
So I have been thinking of this for a while. I have seen the ability in other MMO’s, I really do not remember the one I played, where people could “hire” a crafter to create Soulbound weapons/armor for them.
Personally I love crafting the ascended items and weapons and I enjoy unlocking them. I know several of my friends do not like the crafting though. They really do not want to take the time, energy, and money (or simply do not have the time, energy, or money) to sink into ascended gear, but they love the skins.
I was wondering if this has ever been thought of, or discussed. The ability for people to “hire” a crafter to create soulbound/account bound items for them. I would love to craft ascended gear for my mates who enjoy the look, but do not have the time to create ascended gear.
i think its generally a pretty hard system to set up, though its a nice addition.
If someone likes to craft and someone likes to get the materials, they should be able to divide the work and get ascended items toghether. I would be quite happy to make ascended for others, provided they get me the mats.
But that would go against Anet bussines model. I don’t know exactly how, but I’m sure it will be disruptive.
There’s a workaround, though. You could temporarily swap accounts. You work with their characters on the crafting, they work on yours with another thing you need. Of course, this would need a lot of trust between you… but IMO is not a “bad” thing to do. If world completion bores you, they do it while you do the crafting. If you don’t want to do the personal story again, they do it while you do the WvW achievement.
I know i’m going to do the crafting for my fiancee characters… although the compensation will surely be outside the game. :P
that it makes every other class in the game boring to play.”
