Hi, I just wanted to know if you are better off saving to buy the pre rather than crafting and throwing in mystic forge?

Saving the money and buying off tp is safe longer version. Also the scavenger hunt for each precursor will be available when expansion arrives.

Gambling and throwing your gold into mf is a huge risk, you could end up getting absolutley nothing.

Its on you to decide which one you prefer.

That is true, I have received my dusk through MF but that took a while and with crafting rares. I did not spend as much as the other but it would be better saving then buying, just feel like I didn’t earn it, but I did earn the gold. We don’t know what new legendaries are coming out and will the scavenger hunt also be for the older legendaries?

Yep, “The Moot” was the example they used to describe the scavenger hunt/collection achievement in the article. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-legendary-journey/

Ah I see now, it will be interesting for the legendary scavenger hunt. I did place an order for Zap last night and will see how that goes. Sometimes waiting for HoT can make someone impatient

Crafting rares to throw them into the forge is only profitable for the expensive precursors.
For less popular legendaries, its better to buy rares from the tp because they are on offer for less than the crafting value.

If you plan to craft yourself it couldnt hurt to put in buy orders for rare inscriptions and the two weapon components to save a few silver per weapon.

I will need to check the price for inscriptions when I get home, looked at the wiki and it said for example carrior mithril imbues inscription selling for 56 silver, that is the cost of getting a rare sword

Yeah thats about the going rate, I sold some for a little more 2 weeks ago and since then prices for t5 fine mats and mithril/elder wood even went up a little, so I wouldnt be surprised if you could sell some for over 60s over the weekend, when their prices usually spike.

For some weapons, like swords, you would get the most forges for your gold, if you crafted the inscriptions, sold them per listing and bought the weapons you want on buy order with your profits.

Gambling is more uncertain. It could be quicker and much cheaper (it’s possible to get a precursor on your first ever try) or it could end up being much more expensive and take forever. (Or you might never get a precursor.) The downside is there is no way to know until you get a precursor how much it’s going to cost you and if it ends up being more expensive than you wanted there’s nothing you can do to get your gold back.

Saving up and buying it is safer. The price will fluctuate but you can always see what it is and when you come to buy one you know exactly how much you’re spending. But it can be much more frustrating because you have to sit and wait as you save up the gold.

Only play with the forge if you’re willing to lose everything you throw into it. To quote the greatest action movie ever made, “Hope is a mistake”.

So, are you asking the players selling pre’s on the market now?
Kinda looks like you are from the responses.

By that rationale, anyone telling the OP to gamble away his/her money must be someone selling rares on the TP, right? I think your tin foil hat might be on a bit too tight
