I am a new player, and am doing research on crafting..(no crafting forums?) My understanding is..crafting is only used for levels, and it does not make money well.

This makes me sad, as crafting in a mmo has always been the thing I did, when my body does not want me to combat. (Being disable blows ) I love the story, I love being drawn into the world, I even love leveling so far.

It just feels like, the game is super center around combat, and if trade skills really that bad at end game. That breaks my heart a little.

Am I wrong? I mean I don’t want to take away from others, as the combat is fun, and the game is amazing. I was just hoping for some more relaxing stuff to do, Fishing, Random treasure hunts.

Oh well, I don’t mean to sound negative. I might be wrong as I am not max level yet.

Crafting is the only viable way to get the best possible weapons and armor.

There used to be crafting forums, but they were destroyed in a forum rework quite some time ago. Sad, really.

It’s true that crafting doesn’t really make money, but it’s not useless. If you have the skill and supplies, you can often craft gear for yourself at a lower real cost than what you would have to pay for it off of the trading post.

At the upper end of things, you have ascended armor and weapons. These can NOT be purchased from other players, and are very hard to get as drops. (And if you get them as such, odds are good you’ll get the wrong stats on the item.) They can be made by people with level 500 crafting (expensive) with enough time and hard to obtain resources. A lot of people do not feel they’re worth the effort, but if you want the very best gear that’s about the only way you’re going to get it all.

Sarcasm, delivered with a
delicate, brick-like subtlety.

Its right that many veterans use crafting to level their alts, which leads to alot of oversupply of some items, especially in the lower tiers, to there is no gold to be made with crafting.

However, items that are in demand at end game, can be crafted for profit.
Very few items are also timegated to ensure they have a daily crafting profit.

However, unlike in most other mmos, wether you make a profit or not with crafting mostly relies on good trading, rather than collecting the ingredients yourself.
Prices for materials on the trading post fluctuate quite often for at least 20-30%, depending on the day of the week, time of day and new updates that brings the mayority of the population together and farm the same mats.

So items that are profitable to craft today, wont be tomorrow but new profitable items will emerge because one of its ingredients just got cheap or there is a sudden demand for an item because its required to craft some new gear or item.

Trading in general has the highest gold/hour ratio from all activities in game but crafting can be very profitable as well, if youre really good. To be efficient in crafting, you need to be a good trader as well and it helps to have additional bank and bag space because alot of profit is being made with bulk crafting.

I think 50g profit per hour is a good rate for crafting.

I’ve been around a while, and for a good year or so I’ve read posts on the forum where you are constantly beating that drum, and after trying a good number of angles on crafting using the information you’ve given over the past year, I’ve come to the conclusion that you are misrepresenting the facts and/or omitting vital information. That or you are flat out exaggerating the results.

It is possible to make money via crafting, but I think a very big portion of that which you are leaving out involves a very healthy amount of knowledge of the trading post itself as well as trends. A new player or even a veteran interested in profiting via crafting can’t just pull up gw2spidy and wind up with 50g in an hours time. So please stop advertising it like it is.

I mentioned in my post that trading is a vital part of crafting and that 50g is a good rate, not a common one.

I also dont craft 1 hour and at the end of that hour have 50g more in my wallet. But if I would craft 1 hour every day, I would most certainly have 1500g more in my wallet at the end of the month. Someone who doesnt have as much knowledge about the market as me might need 2-3 hours every day to make the same profit through crafting, especially, if you dont have more than 700-1000 inventory slots available, apart from your collectible tab.

Crafting is basically complicated flipping. Which is very profitable

There is just no standard SOP on what to craft to make money.

For example I can craft item xxx which make 1 gold profit. And if I get aggressive I can craft 10 and make 10 gold in 30 seconds. But the problem is if I get aggressive another person might not be happy and massive craft and undercut. So you need to target a variety of market.

I’m not much of a trader but I’ve been making 3 gold everyday just by taking a few second of my time and craft this item xxx. If I look hard enough there should be more similar item.
