Hi, i came from WoW, and there the craftings don’t really matter much, like if learn a craft that doesnt help my character i can make recipes and sell to earn a lot of money. So in GW2 is the same thing or we must choose a craft that help our’s profession?

It’s like if my crafting doesnt help me, at least it will give me a good amount of money?

In general, crafting doesn’t make you money because just about everyone has crafting leveled. So there’s a lot of competition and the prices of items made is low, especially the ones that people make large numbers of in order to progress their crafting. Personally I wouldn’t bother with it too much while leveling.

After you get the crafting maxed out though it is possible to make gold from it but since everyone else who has crafting and is trying to make gold that way, the opportunities to make gold usually don’t last long and you have to find another.

imo, the main use is to make ascended gear at max level and maybe make food buffs. Possibly some niche crafting as it becomes profitable.

I crafted to 400 on cooking while leveling because you can get 7 levels on it and if you use the guide that uses a lot of karma food, it’s not that expensive. Plus cooking is useful as you can make your own buffs and get extra exp from using cheap food. That’s really the only one I would recomend until you reach 80 and want to level crafting to max for specific exotic or ascended gear.

Here is a guide to maxing cooking using karma food (as well as cheap routes to maxing all the other crafting).
