Crafting legendary weapons difficulty?
Awesome advice thanks again guys really!
The people who have been playing since early release and still haven’t made one is not because they’ve been trying to get one, they’ve been playing normally and still don’t have everything they need, which is their own fault. They are the ones that don’t like to farm, or chose to try and do Mystic Forge for their precursor, or simply wait for a drop, rather than be proactive about it.
or simply dont like the skins
Well yes haha, but I mostly meant those that may have claimed they’ve been working towards one for the better part of 3 years. Honestly the only reason I dont’ have a 3rd legendary is that none of the others really interest me. Waiting for HoT legendaries.
It’s a medical condition, they say its terminal….
My guess is most of the people who have been playing since launch and don’t have a legendary have never really worked towards it.
There are some people who simply don’t want a legendary for one reason or another, and others I’ve spoken to who say they’d make one if they got a precursor as a drop but they’re not going to buy one or gamble on the Mystic Forge to try and get one.
I have to admit when I first decided to actually work towards my legendary I didn’t really have a plan for getting a precursor, other than knowing I didn’t want to gamble for it. It took a few months before I finally accepted that I wasn’t going to have enough gold unless I saved up and that meant stopping buying other things (in my case mainly minis). I also went through my bank and material storage periodically to find things I didn’t need that I could sell. You’d be surprised how quickly even cheap materials can add up.
“Life’s a journey, not a destination.”
My first legendary took me 3 months to make inspite of getting a lucky MF drop for my precursor , my second took me 3 weeks inspite of me having to buy the precursor
The best thing I have found is to integrate the requirements of getting a legendary with general gameplay. A slight change in focus can eliminate much of the grind. For example by the time I thought about making one I found I was already 60%-70% there from just playing the game and doing whatever I enjoyed.
If you decide to purely focus on just the acquirement of a legendary at the expense of doing anything else it can seem daunting, and grindy as hell, but I feel it’s the wrong way to approach it as it’s easy to create symbiosis with enjoyable gameplay for the most part and at the end of the day it’s just a skin, you don’t have to rush it.
Best of luck to you.
:)
I’ve been playing since launch and I still don’t have a Legendary. I have everything ready to go except for the precursor (The Legend, 1250 gold on the TP). I could theoretically just farm the Silverwastes for the thousand or so more gold I need for it, but that sounds horrifically boring to me so instead I’m just twiddling my thumbs until HoT comes out and I can get my precursor through the new mastery track system.
How to Condi Reaper on a budget
Everything I say is only in reference to PvE and WvW.

Pretty much covers all the expenses of each legendary based on TP prices. Can usually get them a kitteneaper, but it’ll show you where the principle of the costs are for each one.
So for Kudzu you can see the bulk of the cost is in the Gift of Fortune and Precursor (about being equal). Meanwhile other legendaries, like Juggernaut, the Gift of Fortune, Gift of Juggernaut and Precursor are all roughly the same.

be nice if that site was interactive.. I see like 0%, but I can’t change anything lol
Truth be told, I had dismissed the idea of a legendary as a “not very important” goal.
Then, after guild missions a couple of months ago, I tossed some random yellows into the Mystic Toilet and was shocked to the core of my being when Zommoros rewarded me with Dusk.
Well, I took that as a sign from the RNG gods, so I went to work. My charrior was indignant when I took her Zoija’s Claymore away and gave it to the mesmer, but I handed her Dusk and told her if she worked very, very hard she could have one of the most awesome-looking weapons in the game. So she’s been doing map completion, PvP matches, crafting ingots until she’s cross-eyed, and getting help from my other characters (the mesmer’s been a regular in the Silverwastes, the thief has been making daily ori runs in Frostgorge and Cursed Shore, and the ele has been following the world boss train around). It’s a slow process if you don’t want to bankrupt yourself, but it’s doable.
The key, I’ve found, is patience.
If I got Dusk I don’t know if I’d keep in in case I feel like making it for my warrior and guardian or selling it for some sweet dye and ascended gear crafting gold.
That would be what we call a quality problem, or a “problem” that’s better to have than not like choosing which cute girl to be your girlfriend instead of no one being interested.
