Crafting's impact on the economy
People could just use alt to learn craft which is the same thing.
And as far as I can tell you, many people didn’t even learn any crafting profession. I looked at my guild list of lvl80 character and most of them didn’t max their profession.
The high volumn trader/crafter is probably the reason it is hard to make money through crafting. They have so much capital, they can craft item in mass and undercut you by 1 copper and you have to wait your turn to sell things.
Personally I see no issue with it at all… it keeps trade prices keen on the TP.
At the end of the day it creates a money sync at both ends… if you want to sell pay the charges and take your chances, if you wanna max out every crafting skill on each alt then great, just pay the puny master craftsman cost to the game overlord and away ya go.. each player to their own I say, nothing wrong with self suffiency.
The only thing it actually does is do away with the need to keep logging alts, crafting, posting on TP and logging back.. so where is the issue, the TP will still get flooded with the same items, just made by a different alt
Crafting system, everyone’s favorite easy leveling method!
Since we don’t really use it for anything else.

I doubt it’s the big money people keeping crafted equipment prices down. For the most part, if someone’s making a lot of money, they’re smart enough to stay out of crafting. For lower level stuff, there’s always someone leveling their crafting and therefore dumping stuff onto the market. What’s odd is how thin a profit margin there is on Exotics. I figure people just love crafting, and will take a 5% profit, despite the fact that there are 100% profits to be made.
The really interesting thing is the effect this has on the buy and sell prices of crafted equipment. People who are leveling their crafting generally “sell it now”, to get the money back for their next batch of materials. This exerts a constant downward pressure on buy orders. Meanwhile, people leveling their characters generally “buy it now”, so they can actually use it rather than getting it a day or two later, when they’re ready for even higher equipment. This exerts a constant upward pressure on sell orders.
The result: 100% is the minimum return I’m making in my chosen market. There literally aren’t enough smart traders to counter the prevailing trends, thus crafters continue to receive a pittance, while levelers continue to have to pay a premium.
The supply/demand is what creates impact in the game economy. The easy and affordable crafting processes does provides a supply higher than demand, so i don’t find it disturbing.
The only way that crafting could influence the economy is to introduce some recipes with hard to get materials. These would increase the demand and the prices would scale up. However i believe this is not desired, and it’s fine with me. That’s already the purpose of the Mystic Forge. The trolling Zomoros crafting machine!

False. I’m currently turning 56% profit on all mats I buy > craft > sell. Every day I stick in 40g on mats and end up with 62g for around 30 minutes of ingame
I believe it’s against ANet standards to impose limit on players. They first implemented GW2 with access to all 8 crafting profession, if they were to impose a 2-craft per character limit, it will just create a distrust between the players and ANet.
Players will find it harder to believe ANet and will also lose the sense of security as the game will be changed at any point in time just because some people complained about it.
I wonder how many people actually keep switching between crafting professions instead of having leveled a profession on another character. It’s not free to switch.
