Creating new guild, need advice for a server
So i am making a new guild, and i am focusing on making it go to all aspects of the game(pvp, pve, wvw, events) And one of the biggest rule for my guild is if you dont log in ever 10 days, you will get kicked unless you pm me a reason for inactivity. My question is what server to make this guild on. What server is the most active? I just disbanded my wow guild and permanently came to this game(had to disband due to player inactivity)
Can you tell players login activity yet? Sorry I don’t know about the most populated, Tarnished Coast? I’m out of touch.
WvW ratings is a (very) rough guide for activity, you can see them here:

It doesn’t mean that the top server is the most active or most populated, since there’s also the fact that some servers might have less PvE going on but higher rating because of highly organized WvW oriented guilds, but I’d bet that any server on the top 15 or so will be active enough. Take into account that the most active a server is on WvW, the more frequently you’ll bump into queues when trying to join, so while it might be a good idea to select a high enough server, also don’t select one so high that WvW is always so filled with people that you might not be able to play on it. You can guest on other servers to get a feel for it, but transfering costs up to 1800 gems (depends on how high the population of the server is), but you can do it for free if you delete all your chars and start over again.
Personally I play on yak’s bend, and so far it has been great, people tend to be friendly and there’s good player activity in most of the places I go to, at least late at night when I can play, and I see dungeon groups forming all the time.
BTW, the 10 days logging rule might be hard to enforce in this game, mainly because the guild management system still isn’t as good as in other games, mainly because it doesn’t tell you when someone last logged in. The guild I’m on (it’s a rather big one, though) had to do two mass kickings and reinviting to keep the number of inactive players low, but mainly because the guild roster was big enough that we needed two guilds to accomodate everyone (max guild size is currently 500 accounts), on the second mass kicking we managed to consolidate everyone in a single guild.

A real grab bag of ‘you can’t hurt me. They’re called Guardians.

locoman I’m kinda glad about the lack of last logged in. I took a few months off and came back and was still in my Guild, yay!
In GW1 they would have prolly booted me for inactivity
Then how can i find out about inactivity? I dont ant "dead players on my guild
Even if you use Leaderboards, to check activity, it doesn’t really indicate when someone last repped. Determining when someone was ‘last on’ only tells part of the story.
You could actually speak to your Guild members, or send them a letter, I guess.
the letter thing sounds good, any server recommendations?
My guild has done activity checks 2 ways:
1. Give people 2 weeks to notify the leaders in game, on Facebook or on the forum that you’re still active. The message was posted on both Facebook and the forum and stayed as part of the daily message in-game. It was also frequently mentioned in chat.
Anyone who didn’t say there were still active got kicked. And if you’d somehow not seen the message and didn’t know to do it that was a pretty good indication that you weren’t an active member.
2. Check the leaderboards and kick anyone who hasn’t gained an achievement point in the last month. That requires you to have done one part of the daily achievement once in the last 30 days. I’m pretty good at “wasting” my time in-game (I once spent all evening climbing a cliff I wasn’t supposed to be able to get up) and even I think that’s easy for anyone to do if they’re actually playing.
In both cases you can notify the leaders if you’re going to be away for a while (either before or after you go) and ask to be re-added if you’re kicked accidentally.
