I’ve been meaning to leave the forums after attempting to spark feedback from the devs, but I found something really awesome and figured you guys might be interested.

“Crossroads” is perhaps a massive title in development by Arena.NET. An art piece was submitted on behalf of their team to the annual “Into the Pixel” competition. It’s labeled “unannounced” meaning the new IP is still being teased. The splash shows a futuristic vertical city, very realistic in its take on where society is headed. It reminds me a lot of Cyberpunk 2077, a game with similar modern setting in development by CD Project Red.

I hate expressing negativity with developers because I, myself, am learning to be a game designer and I know how much passion these people express towards their project. Ultimately, Guild Wars 2 was a visual masterpiece and in many places attempted to reinvent the MMO genre. The designers, the people who bred life into Tyria are not to blame for its shortcomings. Temporary content, marketing, gem-store, RNG, grinding, PvE balance issues – that’s not what the artists are doing and I feel ashamed to have put the blame on them. When you wrap creativity around foul business practices it all blends together because, ultimately, it’s one developer and one publisher whose brand is on the box.

I want to congratulate the designers of A.net for this piece, it really lightened up my belief in your company, not for GW2 in particular, but for your future endeavors. In my opinion it’s a great way to advertise a new IP and from the looks of it, it’ll perhaps be as unique as we are hoping it to be. Good luck!

This thread was in the forum some time back and it seems to be an actual city in Asia. Some guy recognized the place and described where it was. If you look you can see Chinese type lettering and a phone number on the sign.
