Crystal Desert
it was meant to be in at launch but was pull as it “wasn’t ready”
From where did you get that?

I take it u weren’t here for the beta’s ? it was meant to be added in for launch but never was.

Wow, I don’t even…?
Fun fact, the original plan was to go to Elona first, not deeper into the magummies
I have this theory that devs feed on their customers’s tears.
I wonder how much talent has left the company that you will never see it as it was envisioned originally… if at all

I was here for the betas. I moderated a fan forum before the first beta. My guild was already building before the first beta.
I never heard the Crystal Desert was supposed to be in the game at launch. No idea what gave you that idea.
Never heard that theory either and I was in all the betas and read up on the game beforehand.
Perhaps OP can link his source.
Now Tengu and their city is a different story.
The OP was mis-informed. He’s referring to an April Fool’s joke.

The only real mention of the crystal desert prior to release I could find:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wyYe1JKdrdI#t=1924
Doesn’t say anything about postponing it. They just say it won’t be available in the initial release.
In any case OP brings up a good point. Are we going to ever see the Crystal Desert? Or has that been shelf too.
Crystal Desert was never, ever going to be in at release…as for the future, there’s a long way to go with other parts of Tyria still, however, do keep in mind the one large door in Ebonhawke that passage is forbidden through…that’s direction of the Crystal Desert, be it a long, long, long ways away.
I…….don’t remember this at all, and I’ve been here since the BWEs.

I used to proclaim the current larger portion of the dev team contains almost no one from the original GW1 team (I mean BEFORE the GW1 expansions). I proclaimed this due to the HUGE changes including ZERO GvG, between GW1 and 2. However someone would always chime in “GW2 is the game the original GW1 team wanted to make but didn’t have the time”. Yeah…
So while you compare who originally developed GW2 to who is currently working on it, consider who originally developed and designed GW1 to who is currently working on GW2.
Yeah.
smack..Wut?…smack…smack…
After Modremoth Kraalkatorik is probably going to be the next dragon and he is in Crystal Desert.
the pact was supposed to go after kralk next.. for reasons other than trahearne said so is lost on me.. as for desert and maguuma, western territory had some unfinished bits upon launch.. crystal desert was mapped… aside from that. . . who knows.. it’s basically pointless to build theory upon past intentions.. teams changed, capabilities changed.. even vision has changed
When searching for this “postponing of Crystal desert”, I read that you can actually see the crystal desert from a zone. I don’t remember where I read it, or where you could see it from. Does anyone know where this spot is?

It may or may not be fields of ruin, i cant verify that…but there is a gate there that does lead directly to the crystal desert, and if they modeled any of the desert at all it would probably be viewable if you broke the map.

Like Carbine, the issue is the vision and management of leads and decision makers, not the talent that’s being let go. I also find unfortunate.

the lead guy cant think of his name said it, Colin or something maybe.

If you are going to continue insisting that something was said when everyone else remembers it differently, it might be wise to actually supply the source you are basing your claims on. And by supplying the source, i mean posting a link to an actual statements in written or video form, not just claiming that such a statement exists, and you were the only one to ever see and remember it.
(and just in case, if you haven’t noticed, i might add, that the link Vix posted does not count, because, as it was mentioned, it was an april fools joke)
Remember, remember, 15th of November

I was here for the betas, I played the 3 BWEs, I follow GW2 official site since when Elementalist was the only confirmed class, and apparently you are the only one who “remembers” that.
EDIT: Maybe it was a mod post in the gw2guru and you thought it was a dev?

CD is currently underwater in game.
CD is currently underwater in game.
Nope. It’s a savannah, with the Elon river flowing through it. It’s currently occupied by minions of Palawa Joko, and presumably Kralkatorrik in the north.

No, I mean the space where CD is supposed to be is literally underwater. Go through the gate and you’ll see what I mean:
