NTY the “Living Story” saga is very boring and short, those areas are to vast for that, full expansions with new permanent content and adventures I can buy.

so you still think GW2 will have an expansion.
what I’m seeing is that Ncsoft trying to get as much cash from GW2 while there is still players playing.
now I don’t know for fact that the game is dying but like many others with big guilds that have 1 or 2 ppl still playing.
I think we will not see an expansion.
here is why:
GW2 sold 3 million copies.
most of that came from GW1fans (pvp game with some pve) which they lost them.
the game has core problems support/control/ condition damage…………………………..
no character progression no end game made a lot of ppl leave and will most likely not buy an expansion based on what they got .
now how many of the 3 million will still buy an expansion ?
I say the will be lucky to get 1 million.
Of course they’ll open the Crystal Desert at some point.
The story will be completable in about an hour. There will be a single pvp-like instance that rewards containers of some sort. They will also drop off mobs. In the containers will be consumables mostly. Maybe one jumping puzzle will be included. There will also be achievements that require you to mash your interact key a hundred times or so on various things. Completing them all will give you a back item.
Along with offering new, exciting items in the Mystical Crystal Coffers….available now in the gem store! These coffers will have a few new mini pets, along with a rare chance to contain a Sandstorm Weapon Ticket!
These updates can practically write themselves at this point.

I would like to see how it turned out though not entirely keen on how it now supports life, I just hope its not another forest, I would like a desert zone for just a change of pace.
I remember the devs saying a while back that the Crystal Desert would not be in release, but was visible from one zone (Fields of Ruin). I do not, however, recall the devs saying that the Crystal Desert would be added “shortly after release”. I would need a source to believe this.
As for the content such an expansion would contain, the gate in Fields of Ruin would be opened by order of Queen Jennah so the adventurers could continue south to eliminate Kralkatorrik and his branded army. We would most likely face branded hydras, sand golems, and other monsters that are native to the desert.
I would just be happy to see the Mesa and the ruins of Amnoon Oasis.

they might do it or go play wild star ,TESO………………………….
I’ve been around since the launch of gw2 and have no intention of stopping unless they do something really stupid.. You make it sound like they lost 3/4 of the community with the way you talk but they have only lost at tops 1/4 of the community… The base that is here now are the ones who will be playing for awhile longer.. Some will take breaks but the’ll come back it’s just like people do with any mmo… Play then break between patches.
Also most of the 3 million didn’t come from gw1… Only a few hundred thousand came from gw1 and I see a ton of gwamm players in gw2 still so if they lost them they have a funny way of staying lost… Hell I’m one of the gwamm players. The end game topic gets old quickly…. What entertains you may not entertain others… that goes both ways. Just because you can’t find your end game doesn’t mean others aren’t finding theirs…. The game does have some problems with some of the support/controle/conditions though I admit that… Quiet a few other problems besides them as well but no game is without faults… The game will never just poof and go away gw1 is proof of that because after the initial 2 or so years of life the game community became a small dedicated community.

I would think that atleast 2 million out of the 3 million were gw1 players.

At this point in time I highly doubt we’ll ever see the Crystal Desert. GW2 is being developed in a completely different direction. They have no reason to revisit old areas including Cantha and Elona. If they did open up the Crystal Desert, I’m sure it wouldn’t look anything like what we remember. So it’d just be a disappointment.
I laughed at your post Rooks Zaer. That’s exactly what they would do!!

I’d almost agree with you, but for one thing. A lot of people who never played MMOs before, and aren’t into PvP came to GW2 later. Because the game is pretty casual, it has a lot of casual players. There are tons of older people who like used to raid when they were kids and don’t have time now. They want a more relaxing less challenging game.
There’s no one or two people like this, there are tons of us out here. And other MMOs don’t really cut it for us, because if you miss a month or two, you’re playing catch up forever. I won’t be locked out of content if I miss a month or two of Guild Wars 2.
This game is the last bastion for the casual MMOer. Most of the other games have already failed us.

So you assume we will never actually fight the rest of the elder dragons then?
We do after all know for a fact that one of them is in the Crystal Desert.

In one of Colin’s last interviews he explicitly stated that the next expansion would be centered around another dragon, which is where he gave away the Jungle Dragon Mordremoth.

I think this was Anets original plan. Then everyone started freaking out about expansions and actually asking for them. Saying they will pay. So NCsoft, being a company, decide OK if you guys insist well make you pay for content that was supposed to be free. So now I wouldn’t be surprised if we get these small living stories that will leave behind a meta event or armor set and we’ll have to pay for any expansion that will actually change the world in any way. Can’t blame Anet. We c an only blame ourselves for talking about expansions like we did.

Such melodrama.
Yeah can people stop losing their kitten…
The living story is something that hasn’t really been tried before and it was an innovative new idea that shock horror – they have now tried. I wouldn’t be surprised if they drop the mode now because they’ve found out that it doesnt work, and if they do decide to keep going with living story content you can bet they will have at least learnt from some of their mistakes.
I think it’s quite likely that the Crystal Desert will be opened up soon, it is one of the few areas that has actually received little hints and if you pay attention to some of the things going on in game it’s quite possible that we’re going to be facing Kralk next.

hey im one of the biggest TES fans known to man and i am honestly disgusted in what ESO is by the leaked footage, in my experience beta’s dont improve the game, so due to me being a fan of lore im simply buying the game and doing the story, THAT IS IT.

I think it is highly likely we will see the Crystal Desert. And they have every reason to revisit old places. Not only do you pull in the people that are nostalgic for those places (which are a lot), but they already have a base of creatures, places, story line, and lore that they do not have to completely create from scratch. I’m sure we will see new places as well, but old haunts would be cash cows for ANet and I doubt very much they are gone. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Cantha and Elona are places that players are clamoring for. They pop up in the threads constantly.
And it is pretty obvious they would not look like what we have seen before. Palawa Joko has changed Elona for the bad, the jade sea is supposedly re-liquefying by some accounts, those same accounts say that the petrified forest is coming back to life as well. Whether or not this is true, who knows? Cantha is also xenophobic. So it is almost certain that those places are not going to be the same. And why would they? Tyria is nothing like it used to be either.
