Culling Updates
It sounds like it’s a general thing they’re fixing with the engine.
Can’t wait to see the results in wvw and in the big DEs
Could someone help me understand what Colin and the OP meant by “culling”?
It’s when there’s a crapload of players + mobs + explosions etc and the engine doesn’t render some of the ones who showed up most recently.
So in wvw in the bigger fights, people appear much closer than the max distance from which you should see them coming.
Culling is what happens instead of lag/stuttering/freezes in other MMO games where anything large scale causes FPS to drop heavily.

…And when it becomes bad (ie. lots about) like on the Klarka event, you end up being hit and/or killed by invisible mobs that haven’t been drawn/rendered.
Same with WvW, the large fights have players (mainly stealthers) appearing on top of you or “in your face” as it were, beating on you even though you can’t see them or couldn’t til the last minute.
We’ve been awake since March 2007! Please help!
