Anet, sort your code out RIGHT NOW. These massive un-instanced events are not working. When your basic combat response breaks down because the server/client connection can’t handle it, it’s a sign that something is very VERY wrong.

I think you need to be a bit productive… I am pretty sure Anet knows what they’re doing. I can understand frustration, but what is it exactly that happened? Rather than rant, perhaps you expand on what went wrong, so they can fix it?

What went wrong is that 40+ people run up a ramp, die, THEN see the champ and 9 vets standing ontop of them.

This.

The servers can’t handle these events. We have experienced this since day one with Claw of Jormag yet haven’t seen it addressed.

During this last event I was lagging so bad at one point I couldn’t even use most of my abilities. I would die because my heal would sit there TRYING to go off then just give up and fail. I would have to try 5+ times and prey I didn’t die before the heal went off.

Or face a 60-90sec desync followed by a disconnect, followed by logging in dead, waypointing if you’re lucky and then overflow hopping to get back to your group. The server response really put a damper on it for me, mainly in the “reinforcement” phase of the event.

The weird thing is the event didn’t even tax my system at all. If I do something strenuous on it, usually my 2nd fan turns on – turns on about 10 minutes into a dungeon, usually. For this event, it didn’t turn on til I got back to L.A. after it was all over.

The relevant point is — everyone knows an event like this won’t run well in GW2. Because every single day we see it in wvw. The system sucked at launch and continues to suck. Soooooo… why oh why put a signature event based on what you suck at doing?

In contrast, the “decent into madness” Mad King event went pretty well, because we all jumped in to 5-man instances, and had a great time. ANet has been doing instances like that for solo or small group for over half a decade. Of course it was well-received. As are the fractals, lots of fun, and unlike the event they did, the instances are something that might have convinced Rift and WoW players to give GW2 a shot. Giving us that other event — honestly in Rift it would have been awesome, but here it was not fun and didn’t show off the game at all = a bad business decision.

Servers can’t even seem to handle WvW… The same issues happen there, where you can’t see enemy mobs until you’re dead in some cases.

Loading issues, and it’s server-side issues… Not issues with my graphics card or anything.

My FPS is fine, just that enemy models AREN’T THERE.

It also makes a mockery of their supposed active defense and grand claims of us playing the game, not the ui. How can you dodge something you can’t see is there until after the whole group has wiped?!

Never mind that during the beginning and end, a dodge may well send you to a forceful impact with rocks?

The design claims and day to day play experience are not lining up.

Quite honestly the Event was a complete utter failure and exposure of Guild Wars 2 short comings.

People have been complaining about player rendering and lag issues from DAY 1. People with nice rigs.

Why would they make an event with that many mobs knowing they can’t even kittening render the amount of people that are there? Why is the purpose of the dodge mechanic in these situations. GW2 EXPOSED.

So many people got dc’ed and screwed it’s not even funny. Lucky for me I didn’t.

The goodies at the end were nice, but I mean honestly 2 1/2 hrs of invisible champion crab zerg? What a joke.

ArenaNet does NOT play Guild Wars 2. This can’t be.

World of warcraft Wasn’t perfect either when it first came out. Why does everyone expect this to be? All these threads complaining is getting old leave for a couple months let some patches come out and then try it or just leave all together.

My only complaint with culling is prioritization. I could see 30 players but not the mobs. If they would prioritize enemies, we could see what we are fighting first, then other players.

Anet is well aware of this long standing issue … WvW players have dealt with this game breaking problem for what feels like two months now ..

I am sorry that the PvE crowd got to enjoy it also. The silver lining is PvE players only deal with it durring massive events. WvW players enjoy this poor game design every minute of their play time.

I do feel sorry for those that read the minimum system req. and thought they could play the game.. If your system is not high end you get client side rendering issues ( reguardless of in game settings) PLUS the culling… and that’s yuckie!

I blindfold myself then go pick fistfights with people so I can enjoy culling in real life!
