Culling sucks

How many times has this been explained already…? Fixing culling in PVE is alot more difficult because they have to take all the NPCs and monster into consideration. The fact that they were to able to fix it in wvw is already amazing.

I believe they are working on doing away with culling in PvE, not sure if we will see it included in the next patch.
Culling is really bad in PvE, get a few metres away from somebody and they disappear, or run into the bank for the merchant to appear after you get there.

They could clean up redundant scripts and graphics. Or preload certain things, but bottom line, if your computer cant receive and process data fast enough you will always see a delay.

I have a pretty decent set-up and I have also been playing since the betas- there was no culling at launch that I know because I have screens of people literally blanketing the map.
PVE culling is fairly recent to the extent it is now- I think from round about Jan it got really bad.
They did say the are working on it though so hopefully we will see a fix

PvE Culling is certainly worse than at launch and even since the start of the year. My suspicision is that they increased culling in the open world to free up capacity for WvW.
The culling makes doing any sort of world event a painful experiene, it makes LA look deserted except for when about 10 feet away when suddenly all these people pop up from nowhere.
I seriously doubt it’s my system or internet connection that’s under spec. I7 3770, 16gb memory, a 690 GTX and 100mb, low latency net connection. GW2 also runs from an SSD.
Something has been changed at the server end, and tbh it’s spoiling the immersion of the game in many areas.

They might have changed the culling in PVe areas when they raised the cap of how many people could be in each area. That would explain a lot.
They addressed this many times before…the culling in PVE has doesnt have much to do with the specifications of your computer, the bandwidth is a concern from what i remember and it will take time for them to readjust to eliminate culling all together

and it has nothing to do with that. People literally disappear. You wanted to meet up with your friend at an event or even a busy city without partying up? Well tough luck because you will NEVER get to see them.
They already said they are going to remove culling from PvE at a later date:
The initial release of this system will be for WvW only. There are additional complications we need to solve with PvE due to the number and variety of creatures on screen that WvW doesn’t need to account for. Later this year, we’ll be expanding as much of the changes to the PvE open world as we can as well.

I remember reading that too. But it does’nt really explain why culling seems to have gotten worse since January. Perhaps it’s one of those it has to get worse before it gets better things?
