As the title says are they worth it (the cost) over exotics?

I have a char that I’m wanting to upgrade, decked out in full exotics (armors, weapons, & trinkets) is there any advantage I could gain switching to cultural armor other than appearance? or would it be better just to save the gold and apply it towards crafting ascended armors when the time comes?

TIA

It’s all appearance, though you do get some AP for equipping cultural armors.

it’s the appearance, it doesn’t make you stronger (would actually make you less strong since they aren’t exotic unless transmog’ed).

so yes, it’s for the look, nothing else.

It’s all about the skin and if you like it, then yes they are worth the cost as they are cheap in the grand scheme of things.

I’ve got/had full T3 cultural for Human, Charr and Asura and i’ve only ever used them for the skins.

Cultural armor isn’t event exotic, it’s rare. And the only difference to other rares is the skin.

There are only 3 reasons to get them:
1) You want the achievement/title
2) You like the skin and want to use it
3) You are collecting all the armor sets.

Thanks folks, I’ll take a look at them from the perspective of transmutating them over my exotics.

DO you like the look?

Yes = worth it
no = not worth it.

2 reasons for cultural armor…..looks and the achievement points, the latter being a ridiculous reason to spend 121 gold but when I get the title “Emperor”, I will strut that stupid Mesmer like nobody’s business.

I just bought a set of tier 3 human armor and I will immediately transmute it onto badge purchased rabid exotic from WvW as I can afford each piece….as has been posted, it’s rare and unique and because of the high cost, people generally avoid it. My Charr is in transmuted tier 3 as well.

I just finished leveling an alt that I outfitted with cultural armor t1/t2 because its nice not using the 1 skin low levels are given to wear for a huge stretch of leveling. I even used the 1-79 transmutation stones to increase their stats by using dungeon rares every 5-10 levels(its only about 210 tokens to fully armor).

Otherwise for my 80s I only buy sylvari cultural because it deviates from the norm and the underboob human assassin’s coat because underboob.

Apart from the horrid grind of ascended gear, everything is basically looks in this game. Since some cultural gear has the highest esteemed looks, it definitely justifies the 120g price tag.

Oh and before buying a set, make sure you check if the shoulders/gloves clip through or not. For example; asura cultural 3 shoulders are overrided by the coat, making it a waste of 20g.

the stats on the tier1 and the tier2 are very cool when you are leveling- tier 3 is just for skins if you happen to like it.

I buy tier 1,2 for all my characters as they level- if they are not to my liking I transmute them
As an aside many of my lvl 80’s wear a mix of tier 1&2 armour
