So this crazy idea just popped to mind.

We have for a long time asked for capes and the general consensus seems to be we’re not getting them because it would be hard to implement them for all races ( see charr)

So my idea is this – give us culturally themed back pieces for each race.

Humans could have capes ( finally).

Asura could have some flashy tech device ( sort of like the fractal capacitor but more tech looking).

Charr could get something like the flame and frost backpack or something similar to the new spinal blades thing.

Norn could have something like a totem maybe?

Sylvari could get something plant-like. Not sure what.

So what do you guys think? Could it work? Why/why not?

If we have cultural armor, why not have backpieces too? After all they’re something that you wear – just like armor.

I personally don’t like capes.. too basic and too super-heroish for my taste…

Yep I asked the same thing recently. Plant/flower cape things for sylvari please.

And fur capes for norn.

I’m not against more cultural armour … more choice is always nice. Having it specific to races is extra nice ..because it keeps players looking different.

But anyway… I do quite like the idea of capes for all races, and maybe other types of backpacks that are race-dependant.

I doubt it’d be poorly received by anyone. More cool skins are more cool skins.

Just tell that fox thing to undo the strap/hook on his cape. :P

But in fantasy settings, capes/cloaks are often used as additional protection. A dragonscale cloak for example.

That would be nice. Cultural back piece.

Cultural backpieces would be cool.

Sylvari could have those seed pod things.
Charr could have some sort of cog or black citadel-esque theme.
Norn could have animal totem backpieces like raven wings, or a bear backpiece, or whatever

Can’t think of others off the top of my head, but yeah…

Cultural backpieces, yes. Ones that show too.

Also, give the dungeon backpieces something to show off, too. They aren’t back straps that can fit under the armor.
