So I’ve looked into these t3 cultural weapons a little, mainly because I was very interested in the Wolfborn Greatsword. Honestly, I didn’t feel like it would be worth dropping all the Karma for a rare, then having to transmute it to and exotic, blah blah blah. Anyways, heres something I noticed, and I’m not sure if this is intentional or not. If it is, that’s fine, some people might think its unfair but, oh well. The Charr t3 weapons can all be found by heart vendors in Fireheart rise – I’ve found every single t3 weapon there – for almost nothing, they cost less than 1000 karma. So I did a little investigating, and so far in my search I can’t find any other heart vendors in the game that sell same skin t3 weapons besides the Charr ones. I would really like to hear if anyone else has noticed this as well, or has found vendors that do sell these weapons. And I would love to know from Anet if this was just a mistake they made or intentional. Honestly I wouldnt be mad if this is how it is or if they made a mistake but I know some people would probably lose their minds, especially after dropping 63k Karma and finding out they could get the same skin for 500.

if this is in the wrong forum i apologize, i figured it seemed like a general thing.

yeah, exactly the same. but its not only usable by charr, its just their races t3 weapons that you can buy with any character. I just bought the daggers for my human thief because they are pretty sweet.

It’s not like the T3 Cultural weapons are unique to their species, you know that right? Anyone can buy the other species’ weapons, only the armor is unique to each race. On top of that, you might not know this, but T1 and T2 weapons are commonly found throughout all zones for all types of cultural weapons and the “Light” weapons rewarded at the end of the 55 Storyline Quest use T3 use Human Cultural weapons as their model.

On top of that, I’m pretty sure most of the Dungeon exotic weapons just use recolored T3 weapon models.

okay, ya i know that any species can use them, thats not the point. They cost 63000 karma – thats a lot. when one races t3 weapons are available for 300-700 karma, something seems strange. im just wondering why the charr’s are available and no one elses seem to be.

Actually it’s not really all that much, considering how stupidly easy it is to get Karma with the most recent patch? Just do your dailies for ten to twelve days and you should easily have enough for a T3 Weapon. Heck, you could easily just run all the paths of your favorite dungeon (again, more karma) and have it in two or three days.

In short, Karma isn’t hard to come by anymore. Cultural weapons are significantly more obtainable now. Pre-patch? Yeah, you might have a point for the difficulty there (although, Charr T3 weapons are fugly).

EDIT: Oh yeah, don’t forget that the Fireheart Rise vendors offer them with silly names like “Bob’s Fencing Stick” or something along those lines. There’s a bit of novelty in the name itself.

Actually, you’re missing the point. I’ve provided a logical, well-explained counter to your argument, and you’re ignoring it for no reason at all.

It doesn’t matter whether they’re available for a couple thousand karma or for a few hundred karma. You think it ruins the novelty of a T3 weapon? Don’t buy it and go save for the real deal. You want it easy? Go get the odd-named copies.

Do you have both? Do you have the T3 and the Heart versions and actually equipped them to see that they are exactly the same? Because “preview” doesn’t always show the real deal.

Outside of that, it does seem odd, but are you sure the others aren’t out there? That’s a lot of Karma vendors to check.

Actually no, you really are missing the point lmao. He didn’t say anything about T3 weapons being hard to get, just why are there hearts in that certain zone selling the same weapons for even less than 1/4th of the price. Was it a blunder on Anets behave? Or do they ignore Charr just as much as everyone else does. :[

Hmm, here’s hoping that the Asura Tier 3 weapons can’t be gotten any other way as i’ve bought the Greatsword, the Hammer and the Staff for 63k each.

I have to say, Anet really need to make it so at the very least the Tier 3 cultural weapons are locked to race and only available via the 63k karma purchase (and perhaps half the cost for the 1hd versions). It’s pretty bad that the Tier 1/2 weapons can be picked up/purchased via TP at level 2 (my 1st GS drop was the Tier 1 GS in looks) – i’d be livid if the Tier 3 63k ones where the same.

It just seems like they ran out of time and just said “ahh well, lets just use regual skins instead – no need to make the cultural ones unique”.

The cultural weapons aren’t even that great when you compare the stats to other level 80 weapons.

You’re much better off saving up for something off the trading post or making yourself the weapons you want.

Can we know the exact location of this place and vendors? It might not be a bug, since there is only a limited amount of skins in the game they probably “hid” this kind of karma vendors around the world.

It would be awesome to find a close alternative to human T3 armor

You’re not supposed to get the Tier 3 cultural weapons for the stats, you get them for the looks.

That’s the point of the thead, the cultural weapon that costs 63k karma that you buy for looks can apparantly be gotten via much cheaper means – and this is only for certain weapons on certain races.

At 1st i thought the same but getting karma at level 80 isn’t that hard (and you don’t really count the rare aspect as these are for looks – well it’s supposed to be, hence the thread). Add to this the new daily 4.5k and monthly 45k karma rewards and you can get an extra 184.5k a month (based on 31 days) from those alone.

So in 32 days from just the dailys and 1 monthly you can get 3×63k karma weapons (189k total)..

The OP provided some useful data and you wanted to ‘counter’ that for who knows what reason. If the data is not useful to you move on. There is absolutely no need to get into a discussion on how easy it is to get karma as you did in your other post.

That’s called a red herring since you seem to want to invoke logic in a simple thread where somone was passing on some information.

Anyways, ya, it’s good to know others have noticed this as well, and please if any of you find anything, please let us all know. One of the main features of this game is collecting gear for its looks rather than a stats increase (it’s actully a selling point), add to this the cultural weapons are purchased for their looks and not the stats – so of course its a vanity thing.

Why do people care?, because they’re 63000 karma items that are supposed to be unique. I mean why would anyone spend 63000 karma on an item for its looks when you could buy the same look for under 1000 karma?.

I don’t know what you’re talking about, unless you’re playing an Asura. My Norn’s Pact Avenger is like a fusion powered buzzsaw diving board. I see it all the time.

A lot of people seem to be completely missing the point of this thread.

The T3 cultural weapons are only bought for looks. The only reason to buy them is to transmute the look onto an exotic weapon with the stats you want. You don’t buy them for stats, for their name, or any other reason.

If the look of a T3 weapon is available elsewhere for a cheaper price, this causes a problem. As I said before the only reason to buy a T3 weapon is for the look. That one reason is eliminated when you can get the same skin for cheaper. This is the OP’s concern.

Now the question is, are there any other cultural T3 weapon skins available from cheaper sources?

Yes—sort of. I recall being rewarded with weapons following a Hylek story quest. The weapon skins were all identical to Seraph (Human T3). Granted, the selection was smaller—being a Guardian, I was offered Hammer, Staff or Sword—but still.

You’ve not really countered the point, only stated the rate of karma gain has changed. Yes, you can get the 63,000 karma weapon faster, but you can also get the 500-1000 karma weapon faster…. The rate of karma gain is uniform and nothing in that regard has changed the OPs original point. Not sure why’d you’d go/care for weapon names when people can’t even inspect what you have and you’re just transmuting for the skin.

The original point is still valid… why have essentially the same item for 63,000 when it’s available elsewhere for significantly less? If you had said “because the vendor is in a major city and not in a level 50-60 zone”, then maybe you’d have an actual counterpoint.
