I love the idea of Cultural Armor, the unique look to reflect each of Tyria’s playable races is cool and immersive…but it falls short in the following areas:

  • It’s expensive, costing coin. Why not Karma? After all, Karma reflects the efforts you have made helping out your home and allies.

(Tier 1 Set: 2.88 gold/ Tier 2 Set: 7.7 gold/ Tier 3: 119 gold) <—that last step is a doozy!

  • Stats are limited. They should be select-able stats (all gear should be!) before equipping. Or, make them skins, like the WvW stuff.
  • Tier 3 is Rare Quality not Exotic, for the cost, this is unacceptable.
  • Not really sure why we need three “tiers” of Cultural Armor, level 80 Exotic would suffice.

Because, while karma reflects the efforts you have made to help your home and allies, gold actually does help your home and allies.

Honestly, I know you’re trying to start a discussion or something, but nobody buys cultural armor for the stats anyway (at least not T3). The people who want it enough spend the gold for it… I don’t really see a problem with it at all.

It didn’t seem so unusual when the game launched, but I think the world changed around Cultural Armor, so to speak. Exotic Gear turned out to be a lot easier to obtain than the developers originally expected (I think?) and the super expensive T3 gear was never reworked to match expectations.

Given their limited stats, both in terms of rarity and attribute selection, I imagine there are very few people who don’t reskin their cultural armor onto something else. At that level, you’re really buying the skin more than you are the stats, but it’s funny / dumb that transmutation is in there essentially as a hidden cost, when most people would rather just buy Skins. I’d like to see this updated to be more intuitive and to fit more with what the rest of the game is doing.

As for the T1/T2 sets, I think they’re good, because they’re race specific armor at a tolerable cost. (T1/T2 sets use different skins from T3, and from each other, so there’s no redundancy there.)

I completely agree with these issues and I think Tier 3 should be Exotic.

The tiers were linked to the old system of traits because they used to match in level requirements. It’s just another thing that makes no more sense anymore.

I think they should be more of the cultural armours. I loved the Slyvari organic armours but it’s plain seeing the Slyvari npc wearing the same mix and match of the three armours (surely the team got alot more sketches of those armours being unused?).

Also yeah at this point in the patches, they should be made as skin at this point since they are useless in both rarity (only rare and not exotic) and stats.

Well for sylvari-like organic armors there are actually 12 sets, 3 of which are bound to TA dungeons and not racial bound.
If all people would be walking in the pain kitten,t3 set it would get quite boring, there is already a problem some sylvari-armors (not) accepting gloves/shoulders (mostly orchid) and refusing them due to clipping issues

And I do not mind the t3 being a bit more expensive, it will be a bit less used. Instead of 1 days of dungeons, it costs 10 days of dungeons. Well.. If you really want it it’s not a problem. As we only want the skins nowadays, you purchase them, and sell them back again for a slight refund, For t3 your’ll get ~8,5 gold back or so, in the end costing about 110 gold.

I noticed I prefer t2 and t3 mix generally above full t3. But everyone has wishes.
