I’m near the level requred for tier 1 so i’m wonderig if its worth it to spend so much karma on the weapons and armor. It’s kimda pricey and i’m not sure if they’re so much better than i’d get feom normal magical weapns. Yellow ones or somethig. Or should i just save my karma for the uber expensive tier 3 or 4 not sure which tier is the last. Can anyone give me some advice?

Do not spend a single copper on it unless you like the way it looks. That is basically the only reason to buy them – the stats are useless.

get it if you think it looks good. The stats are nothing special, and you can find the same stats for a few silver a piece in the BLTC. The thing about cultural armor and weapons is the unique look it has.

As others have said buy it if you like the skins- I have tier 1 Sylvari cultural armour that I bought at lvl 20 already because I can’t stand Sylvaris in human armour.
Currently I am saving to get her tier 2 at lvl 60- that will be her end game gear.
Luckily for me I don’t like tier 3 armour
I am also saving karma for the tier 3 weapons.

It is all about the look you want.

Take a look through all 3 tiers of cultural armor. Preview them and decide what you like. If you love it, why not buy it? If not, find something cheaper.

For armor, take a look at the PvP lockers in Heart of the Mists for what armor sets you like best. They all have PvE equivelants. Then you can make an informed decision.

They do seem kinda pricey, way too much karma, and karma is hard to come by. I’ve been doing daily quests as much as i can and i have about 20k karma now. But tier 3 weapons and armor… Man, where do i get so much karma? Sure, they’re lvl 80, but still…

All the cultural armor I’ve seen doesn’t cost karma, but gold or silver… I’m confused… If I could spend Karma instead that’d be great.

Just to add- Cultural Armour cost gold while the Weapons cost Karma- you can find the vendors in your racial main city. Cultural Armour is only usable by the race, while Weapons are usable by everyone I think.
You can get quite a lot of karma doing Dynamic Events too in addition to hearts and dailies

Save that karma for the best stats in the game which are in ORR. Its 42 k a piece for power/vit/tough armor. And only certain temples have it based on your armor class.

63k Karma for a t3 cultural weapon isn’t actually that much. If you do your daily achievement every day, 10 or so days of jugs of karma will get you 45k karma + the karma you get from doing the 5 events that go into a daily achievement.

The karma armor on Orr is pretty decent too, 252k karma for a full set, but not that hard to gather either. If you’re looking for that though, I recomend saving up jugs of karma, getting a karma booster and spamming them all at once.

Yup… it works that way, I spammed 20+ jugs right before getting my karma armor, made sure I had a boost for it (converted Gold → Gems to get one from the gem store, WORTH IT!) Also, the guild banner that gives +% karma works on jugs… and in theory the guild + karma % guild buff works on jugs. The way the guild buff reads it shouldn’t, but I haven’t tested it…. all I know is that I had every available karma buff running when I spammed my jugs and I got over 7K karma per jug. There was a thread a while back and I swear I remember A-net actually comenting that this is in fact working as intended

As to Orr, Orr is the lvl 70-80 zone (actually 3 zones) that you will find at the end of your personal story, the source of the risen and many of the end game elements. It’s a fun place to hang out (people will think I’m nuts, but I like it.) No hearts, everything is event chains (still has SPs and Vistas though.) On Orr there are 6 temples that sell lvl 80 exotic armor for 42k karma each piece. The armor looks the same regardless of where you get it, but it has different stats depending on which temple you get it from.

Karma banner, guild karma buff, and karma booster. All of them works, and stacks. So Id recommend saving up all your jugs of karma and using em all at once when you have access to all those things.

Wow! Cool! Well, now i’ll save jugs. kitten had i known sooner, but oh well. Still a lot of game to go, and it’s not that hard to get the daily quest bonus, most of the stuff i can do in an hour, except maybe 5 events needed… Sometimes i’m the only one doing them or i just can’t find any. :P

if you need events wvw is great for it, if you dont want to cap supply camps or towers you can kills dolys or turn sentries for 5 quick events

There is one more thing to consider, Once you reach lvl 80. You’ll be unable to use any armor skin lvl79 and below to transmute to lvl 80 armor. At least I have not found a way. This is very confusing why we cannot skin from a lvl 1 piece onto a lvl 80 piece or even light to medium to heavy respectfully since all races/classes/genders have the models already in place.

You’ll need “fine transmutation stones” to do any transmuting involving level 80 equipments. You can get a few when you first started the game(around 5 I think), and you can buy them off of gem store.

You can transmute any skin onto lvl80 armour with fine transmutation stones yes.
I’ve done it many times.
You can get fine transmutation stones for completing a map, I think story rewards and I got some from a daily once, sometimes from Black Lion chests.

That only applies to the cultural armor. The cultural skins, at least the charr one are actually fairly common, which I find quite odd.
