Not to sound to rude buuut if u know how gw2 works at all then u know that eaxh map has different maps for the overflow and some maps that are full of activity. And by looking at how u think octovine is vacant all thetime you clearly dont know that octo is the most participated event right now with multi loot being a thing. There are like 6-10 full maps of people doing it. U are in an overflow map. Lfg is a thing. Use it before a meta event not during. I just dont understand how any gw2 player doesnt understand how gw2 maps work… Sorry. Got a little more rude as it went on. Lol

This 100%. While I have found a few dead maps, I can usually find something using LFG – either by taxiing to an active map or starting a squad. It doesn’t usually take much effort.

I’ve not an overall slight dip in the sub HoT/Bloodfen areas but still usually do to instanced map. Also, this tip, using LFG for events or OW; is great and I never used it for a while because of how the dynamic events work you don’t “need” a group for xp/loot/participate but – it simply for getting with peeps/populated/travel is great!

Also with it being a 3 day weekend in the US and the last major holiday before summer ends, players may have been away from the game for reasons other than those related to games.

Well, I guess he’s one of those people who shoots, knowing it’s going to hurt and then thinks all be well if he apologises.

As for the topic, population topics are always tricky. It can be a momentary thing, it could be a general trend. It’s not possible to say from just a weekend’s play.

Clearly there are people playing and it’s not a problem generally to find some groups for meta events via the gf at least but outside those meta events I can’t say I run into a lot of people.

For me that’s fine. I’d rather they are all doing events and raids where I am not. The only downside is that mobs are harder to kill in the higher level areas when you are by yourself.

But considering how the server system works on a map by map basis with instances, it really is difficult to say anything sensible about population.

It’s a game forum. The truth is not to be found here.

Originally all ppl got together in LA and it was extremely crowded. some ppl fled to the other 5 cities to reduce load / more clear choices in race/ appearance.

And this changed:

Nowadays ppl are split way more between al locations with crafting points and a BLTP, including the queens thingy in DR and the airship or -shop in the map above LA. More people have acces to Anything and all while just running, having (perma) bank acces, and merchants in the ank or shared slots. and from the vanilla area’s we went to HoT and we now have maps whicih are unacessible with a vanilla account, F2P’s and so on.

I notice a lot of ppl loiter in the Aerodrome, and the better part of high end PvE-ers play only RAids and some t4 fractals as it seems meaniong they never get to the old area of LA with the bank, crafting stations and the BLTP…

Mostly cause those ppl have Ascnededs on all (or most of their character) and are earning them through RAIDS anyways. making any need for them to return to the “social area’s” pointless.. Most people play on fixed groups with TS/Discord anyways making the social experience way different compared to the start of gw2.

Of my huge friends list a good portion still logs in daily. Some return for new PvE content, some do not….. Some have found paces in other games as well leaving Gw2 temprarily (well with 8 weeks between new conetnt it means they are playing 1-2 weeks of new content and afterwards they’re gone again.)

23 lvl 80’s, 9 times map, 4ele, 4ncr, 3war, 3grd, 3rgr, 2thf, 2msm, 1eng, 1 rev.
Been There, Done That & Will do it again…except maybe world completion.

I haven’t really PvE since game launch…

Now I’m doing map completion for a Legendary and wow, the maps sure are empty.

I remember running through map completion the first time, before megaservers, there was always atleast 2-8 people in sight at all points of the day, always little groups running past you screaming odd things, now I’m lucky to see one person while completing a map.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
….. And Elementalist.

It clearly varies from person to person then. I had to do 4 maps for completion today and all 4 I always had a few ppl running around nearby. One map had constant chatter in map as well. Maybe it is time of day related or EU/NA, but I haven’t seen an empty map for a long time during the times I play in core maps.

But, as I said, Legion will have had an impact this month – especially seeing as it has taken a lot of GW2 concept in its pre-expac events and in the expac itself. I’ve lost most of my guild temporarily to WoW until the newness of that wears off.
Some ofc are delusioned by the game a little with its inconsistent direction and messy current events, but that kind of attrition happens in all MMO’s.

This will cover a few topics about low population maps and a new possible server queue system that alerts players when there is an opening is the high population pve maps. Also it is about the loot system, the in game help, and the games crafting dependent design.

Is there a server I should be on to be in a populated map. I very rarely get placed in a populated map. There isn’t very many people in the maps and the area events are not beatable. Maps that are lvl 80 are impossible with only 4 people trying to do all of he Lake Doric events. Looking for group does not work and there is barley anyone that uses it. It seems like I am always in a overflow map. Why am I not chosen for a map that is half full? Are each of the areas different or is the whole world one server? I have been playing this game since launch and I can only get into populated maps, very rarely, or if it is a holiday. Holidays, the looking for group thing works. Other than that I have to rely on a guild. I come on to the game everyday and I am alone. Maybe 20 people on the whole map. Why isn’t there 300+, every time? Can I be moved to a server that guarantees me a better populated game atmosphere. I remember the first year of playing the game, every where I went there was at least 30 people around me at events. Now there are 4 people. Its like I have to roll dice and 1 out of 12 I get a good map. Is there a way where I can move to a different map and back, or something to switch servers? Or can there be a notification, that lets users know they are on a low populated map and offer a wait queue for them to get on a more populated pve map?

I need to do more map completion but it is difficult because I am always alone and it seems like all I am doing is running. The events are so spread out that it feels like a ton of work just to reach the area that I have to do my heart quest. Also the loot is very poor. I have to farm the silverwastes, over and over just to almost get 5 400 lvl crafting things for my legendary anything. At this rate I wont have a legendary weapon for 2 years. I only have one full set of Ascended gear and that is from pvp Ranked, before the crafting was required. I still don’t know how to craft the thing needed for the new pvp ascended system. It doesn’t explain it in game and it is annoying to have to look it up in a fan based wiki. There is not enough introduction to how the game mechanics work in the beginning of the game. I used to spend a lot of time teaching players, new and veterans how to properly use the combo system. No one had a clue about fields and finishers. I am still not sure what world bosses are happening at one time or another and why do the users have to search for the answers online?

I play this game because I like to bash stuff. This game is centered around crafting and raid grinding to get the good gear. What about the people who just want to pve and not craft? Can they beat a boss and get a chest drop that gives them a legendary. I am not close to getting any sort of ascended or legendary items. It seems like an unrealistic goal. I have only received 3 ascended weapon drops, and many people get at least 6. They also get at least 4 ascended gear drops. I play wvw, pvp, and pve and these drops are non-existent. I have 150 magic find and it doesn’t seem to count for anything. I spent 3 years building it up, and all I get is crafting materials. What if I don’t like crafting. This game sold me in the beginning because it let me chose what I wanted to do. Crafting was optional, but it seems like it is actually the most important area of the game. Wish I would have known this from day one. I even preordered the game. People told me they crafted to get items, but I thought hey, I have magic find and I am lvl 80 and I am doing all of the top tier events. Why am I forced to craft?

There are much less players than 2-3 years ago. But it’s still okay’ish. Hope there will be a surge of new players with new expansion. I don’t play a lot since 1.5 years. I am super bored and only come back for the new LS episodes generally.
