Guild Wars 2

So, I am a fan of the original GW, love the gameplay, love the story, love the graphics (favorite game is Nightfall, it was just amazing for me), also read the books. Then GW2 got announced, I was so hyped, then it released… and oh boy, was . it . boring. It wasn’t a bad game, it did everything it was promised, it just wasn’t fun for me. I quit some weeks after, and went back to GW1 before I went to another game.

GW2 expansion got announced and released and at that moment I was really disappointed, it was just some extra places in the original map, no Cantha or Elona, or a new place =x so I just forgot about GW2 existance.

I have NO idea what changed, if anything at all, from the release day till now, but, last week was talking with a buddy that plays GW2, he was gonna buy the expansion and I was like – “well, wtv, I have it, might as well install it and see how it looks now”.
Created a ranger, and I don’t know what sort WTFness is going on, but I just can’t stop playing. The game is tons of fun, like, buckets of fun…

Ok so, now I wanna experience the living world story thing, I’m almost level 50 atm, what do I need to see / buy, in order to get the entire story? before I go into the expansion. Any guides?

Also, is the dev team stable and such? like, is the game dying? (not talking about the playerbase but if the devs are just supporting with the live story thing, like the end of GW1 lifetime). Expansion coming?!

No the game isn’t dying. It’s not close to dying. The team has been releasing new story and a new zone every 2-3 months, which pretty much proves it’s not dying. This is while working on an expansion.

As for the story, it’s not such an easy question to ask. The personal story takes you through to level 80. After that, you have the Living Story Season 1 which can’t be played. It was live and pretty much real time. There’s a recap in game and a much better video floating around, but it can’t be played.

Then you have the Living Story Season 2, which can be purchased with gems, followed by the story in HoT, which you get by purchasing HoT, followed by Living Story Season 3.

You buy those right now episode by episode with gems. If you’ve logged in while they were live, though you get them free. I have no idea which ones you have unlocked ,though you’ll certainly have chapter five, which is the most recent. You can check this in your story journal.

This game is very very different from Guild Wars 1. Those who came in expecting Guild Wars 1.5 were probably disappointed. However, I knew it would be different before launch just by reading what was said about the game, so even as a long time Guild Wars 1 player, I loved the game.

There’s plenty to be found here, lore and story wise, but it’s not in your face. You have to look for it.

I’m getting the hang of GW2, and will purchase Season 2 and the 4 epsiodes missing from Season 3.
Looking back, Season 1 seemed like one of the best things that happened in an MMO.

A shame no one will ever play it again =x Season 2 and 3 will feel like any other instanced MMO thing (or am I wrong? hope I am).

It was my least favorite zone in GW1, but yeah, it changed a lot… even so, I want to get back to Elona again, I loved that place, and Cantha in GW2 should look even more crazier than in GW1. Tyria (continent not world) looks like a normal (yet very VERY beautiful) fantasy world, while Elona feels like something tottally new! and Cantha looks promissing in GW2, even if there is a bunch of Asian themed MMO’s nowadays.

Anyway, let me go to the land of the golden sun please!

1. Play through the original campaign.
2. Watch this video (as Living World Season 1 is not available for purchase).
3. Purchase and play LWS2.
4. Play through Heart of Thornes.
5. Download/Purchase and play all current episodes of LWS3.

Is there a point to purchasing the LW seasons? Do you get anything specific or just some single player stuff?

Rewards include Mastery Points, Achievement Points, gear (backpacks, trinkets, headgear, shoulders, etc.), minis, Home Instance rewards, and more.

I would say under an hour. Depends how many times you fail during certain fights.

Also depends on whether you want to do achievements and figure them out for yourself, or if you’re using a guide. Because if you’re doing achievements and figuring it out on your own, there’s no way it’s an hour. Trust me on that.

Well I was just thinking of the story. Once the story is over it’s no different than any other map with specific achievements that you can do at your leisure.

We don’t got to Cantha but to Elona/Crystal Desert later this year in Expansion 2! Seems you re-entered the game at the right moment
