Q:

GW2 has done nothing to make people come thier. The place is dead and doing events with no people is not fun. What would help is having a Dragon event thier.

I would have to disagree. If we had a dragon event (which is no different than a meta event and we already have 6 in orr zones) it would only attract players there for the time it was up.

If you really want people to play in Cursed Shore…Anet needs to rollback all these farming nerfs and bring back shelt/pen + plinx.

Like vol said, bring back Shelt/Pen and Plinx and you’ll get the hordes coming back. It’s a real good thing Melandru, Arah and Grenth are meta events that take like… half an hour to do otherwise Cursed Shore would probably be completely empty.

Wait for the southsun event to end, and also for the first couple of days of the Dragonbash festival to pass and some people will be returning to Orr.

I know I would revisit Orr if the times on the 2 events were at a decent rate. But Imo Orr AND Southsun really need something interesting added to them. Since leveling can be so quick, high level areas really need a revamp now that we have been “enjoying” them for several months. I can farm all day long and do mostly the same stuff, many people aren’t like me though. But that being said, I still would rather prefer some variation in the high level zones and new/interesting looks and monsters. And the champions need a serious revision.. as well as the coding for them not de-spawning at the end of the event. Nothing is more annoying than fighting an endless wraith or a champ spider who pops out 300 spiders who drop 0 loot.

I personally know of one place that would make for an excellent jumping puzzle in Orr, small things like that could help as well. Not everyone who comes to Orr is a farmer or a temple runner, and that is ok, but they deserve something fun to do as well.

Yeah, pretty much this.

Maybe, or maybe they will see how bad it is in there due to nerfs on event timers and they will simply go and run CoF, only popping to Orr for the temple events.

The thing is, I don’t think the majority of the playerbase realizes they doubled the event timers for shelt/pen

Felt it like a brick to the face :P Luckily I toned down my event farming there or I’d probably be more annoyed about it. Still, couldn’t hurt to let us have our penshelterygoodness back after SS is over.

Came back after a couple month vacation…to notice that every single mob there pretty much chain knock downs/pulls/ccs. It’s really annoying.

Suppose that might be why people avoid the place like the plague.

Perhaps they went a wee bit over board on the mob buffs, yes?

In Orr? Actually they fixed the majority of that happening by removing dense mobs, removing those annoying spam grabbing, and adding loot bags to more drops. Unless your referring to champions at the events, then yes, they do suck.

I agree with Vol that we don’t need a dragon event there as all the aspects of “success” have already been there at one time or another. For some reason they began to remove the success factors in February and have been on a clenched-teeth death march since then.

It’s sad as I’ve had great times and met a lot of people there. Those times and friends are now gone. Return everything to the January update state and you’ve fixed Orr. It is sad when reversions to a prior state represent improvement, but that, alas, is our current state.

He was never really a coin machine, more like a karma dispenser. But he got nerfed around November.

Yeah .. but of course then people would complain again with using words like :
- faceroll
-brain-af – k
-rofl-stomp

and cry for :
-challenge
-hardmodes

feel free to complete the list

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.

We could start a fund and offer to purchase them an on-line course in the MMO and it’s place in gaming genre. (The MMO is not about crushing challenge in open world PvE.) Or, if they’re not the studious type, and these people are never the studious type, we could offer to get them a copy of Dark Souls to play alongside GW2. What do you think? I’d be will to make a significant donation to the fund.

I find this true with most MMOs. It’s a problem that is only really resolved by adding new content to the zones, adding a new class, or adding a new race.

It’s simple – less gold for players means they are inclined to get gold from gem converting.

People who farm aren’t going to buy gems. They’ll have enough gold to buy whatever they want.

I’m the perfect example. Spend around $1000 on this game until December. That’s when I started getting efficient in farming and making anywhere from 5g to 8g/h. I haven’t spent a single $ since.

But the problem comes from the fact that it made one of the most populated zone into a desert, so ppl will have 1 less place to take their new skin to which they bought for gems. I consider that more like something what makes ppl spend cash on the game, but u might have right :/

That would put more people in specific spots in Cursed Shore. It would not make cursed shore feel any more populated. You still won’t see anyone in the majority of the map.

A lot of maps are empty, and the ones that have a higher that normal amount of players have them concentrated in certain areas. Problem is incentives. At level 80 why would you go back to low level zones to farm T1 mats? Why would do events for low amounts of coin and karma, especially when karma is near useless. Orr is boarderline right now, if they keep nerfing it people will give up…I’m not saying I have a solution…but that is it! And if killing mobs and doing events was as rewarding as Orr no one would be in Orr…see the predicament?

Beefing up event farms is not a healthy incentive to getting people back in an area for the right reasons. If you bring back shelter/ Penn/ Plinx you’ll just see people at those three events, sitting there, or running between them. Make the area it’s self more engaging and rewarding and people will return. Although this raises another problem, if Orr is the only profitable region for people in the game, it will be the only area people visit. Which will spark more threads about the maps in this game being dead, except for Orr. Make the entirety of the game profitable relative to level and people will be more encouraged to get out into the corners of the game rarely visited. For instance all of the mid level areas see rare use. items and materials from these areas have since seen a spike in profitability, albeit less than Orr. I suppose I could digress further and say that it’s much more profitable for most people to sit in lions arch and play the trading post. I suppose what I’m saying is that there are a plethora of reasons as to why Orr is depopulated at the moment, and by extension all areas of the game. As others have said, wait until these recent events are over and you will see a return to Orr. However, we may not depending on how profitable southsun is after the event is over.

I love Melandru, but Grenth is half impossible right now. Every time the Wraith champion spawns it does the AoE life drain and Jonez dies. Sad really, otherwise the event is so nice, love the challenging boss fight, but we just can’t manage to get past the wraith lol.

I guess a question to consider is: Why should cursed shore have a greater slice of the population than another zone? Right now the only thing that demands a population there is the temple events, and I’m still of the opinion a competent group of 5 can clear most of those, with 10 people and some loose coordination capable of clearing anything*.

*Balthazar escort is iffy. I think there’s a way to bolster your starting morale if you open more of paths across the map, which few people do even if they’re leading around 30+ players, but I’ll admit it’s a very easily failed event.
