Has there been any discussion about retooling the Wardrobe system?
I had recently dipped into Wildstar a game with a lot of systems I do not like, but the two I absolutely loved was the housing system and the Costume system.

And as much as I would love to see the kind of insanely awesome house decorating system seen in Wildstar; here, today I want to speak on the costume system.

Basically the way the system works in GW2 now, you roll a character, they start in boring looking gear, you unlock skins and can apply them over your gear with transmute charges.
but here is the thing, most people know not to waste transmute charges on leveling gear, so they go from 1 to 80 get their build and equipment sorted, transmute that every so often with free charges they get from 100%‘ing maps, and that’s it. Few charges are ever bought with gems.

Outside people that keep multiple spec sets each player essentially has one look.
The way Wildstar does it is gear visual swapping is completely independent of the actual armor itself and is stored in the gear slots themselves which then are saved as sets, and the sets can then be swapped between at will at no cost.
What is sold in the cash shop instead is the ability to have more sets of custom costumes that the player can toggle freely to suit their mood.
in Wildstar I had a costume for cold areas, hot areas, PvP, space, chilling in town, the system allowed one the flexibility to theme and actually want costume parts out of the cash shop they normally would pass over because they do not work with the one generalized outfit they are allowed to have at a time.
The current Outfit overlay system is okay but it’s use of ridged full static outfits with no ability to mix and match them severally limits it’s appeal.

I believe implementing a similar system as Wildstars in Guild Wars 2 would not only go over well with the playerbase who already dedicate incredible amounts of time and energy on the pursuit of looking good, but potentially increase revenue over the current direct gear transmute charge system. Hell, the transmute charges could even be left in; with people making multiple outfits over multiple characters they might actually start to run out of free charges and buy more. :P

People have suggested something similar and referred to it as “custom outfits”. You decide on the armor pieces that make up the outfit and store those along with ‘outfits’ somehow.

I’d pay gems for that.

I don’t suppose you have a link to that topic. I try to look before I post a redundant thread, but I didn’t see any.

Oh I don’t think this thread is redundant — it’s been a while since the last time I saw the suggestion in the forums. Or Reddit, for that matter. I meant to suggest that you’re not alone in wanting to see something like this.

Sounds like WildStar had the same system as SWtOR has. Nice. Yes, we could use one like that.

would be even better if we werent bound to gear type too with that. even if you still have to wear light with light or medium with medium.
