Hello all,

What do you think about ANet selling blank outfit templates in BLTP that could be costumized by us using all skins available in game and then transformed in a personal designed outfit?

Imagine a blank outfit template with 6 slots, corresponding to the normal armor slots, where you could mix-and-match whatever skin you have unlocked and then produce your own personal outfit.

I think this idea has the following advantages:

1. Allow guilds to have their guild uniform template available to every guildie (guild leader just list the skins to be used by everyone to produce the guild outfit on a blank template);

2. Allow players that like to have all chars with a similar look to have their own fit-for-all personal outfit;

3. Provides ANet with good income because I think this kind of creative tool for the player base could be sold by 1000 gems.

All feedback welcome.

Thanks.

I think it would be lovely to be able to design our own gear, but…

*It’s probably a programming nightmare
*With the current armor seams, we’d still have to conform to light/med/heavy
*They would have to set anachronistic limits … and disallow nudity-likenesses.
*As a result, we’d probably be left with a very limited template, similar to being able to choose from 3 or 4 dye channels.

IMO, it’d be better if they held periodic contests for customer-designed outfits for the game.

I like the idea of creating your own template, although I have no idea if it would easy or difficult to implement. In theory: easy, since in effect, each toon currently stores a template of six skins (which can be retrieved via the API).

It would have to follow the same limits as in the current game, as Kumion notes:

  • Same weight only, no mixing light, medium, heavy.
  • No mixing of outfits with armor, since the entire reason outfits are ‘cheap’ are because they are one-design-fits-all rather than mix & match.
  • It would be easier to only use your wardrobe, not the list of all possible skins.

There’s also be some implementation headaches, such as how to handle backpacks and how the game respects show|hide options.

As for creating your own outfit out of all the possible skins in the game? Also intriguing, although I prefer the idea of saving my own template. Basically, I wouldn’t spend 1,000 gems on an outfit that I can recreate myself from my wardrobe. I would, however, spend 1,000 gems on a template that I can update later.
