Cyber-bulling and Guild Wars 2
While I agree that bullying should not be accepted it is more or less completely impossible to avoid it completely.
The only way to actually do that would be to remove the ability to chat to people in the game and that would never work.
The thing you can do however is blocking them.

Can you share how you have experienced or witnessed cyber bullying? At least provide us with a definition of what you mean exactly?
I am writing this since I myself have been a victim of cyber-bullying in this very game.
It is a topic that needs to be discussed further, and hopefully be addressed more by Anet and Ncsoft. As we have all heard in the news children are killing themselves due to the lack of support from those in charge of schools. It is a sad fact and a commentary on how this world is not responding has it should.
It is even sadder that it finds it way into MMOs like this one. A place where many seek to escape the torment of real-life and seek to find for a short time a way of venting their anger in a constructive way. A way that is being seen by professionals as a way to help our troops get through post traumatic stress.
All MMOs should be free of even the possible threat of cyber-bullying, and those found guilty of it should be banned from the game forever.
In my personal situation I know for a fact that those that did this to me are still active within this game. Were they punished? I don’t know. Anet will not discuss disciplinary actions even to the victims of the event.
It is my hope at least that Anet see this post and thinks strongly about becoming more aggressive in their rules that cover cyber-bulling and do their best to make it understood that this type of behavior is not acceptable in this game or in real life.
1. Life is unfair. Keeping your children in teddy bear land will not help them.
2. In order to complain about cyber-bullying in the forums it would be helpful if you told us the full story with HOW you were bullied. Then we could give you further advise (whether to block the people, to report them, to actually get concerned or not, etc).
Unlike real-word, everyone are more or less equal in MMOs and can stand up for themselves.
It’s not like we have a free PvP system with ascendent guys ganking noobs. Really, how can anyone bully you in GW2 unless you want it yourself =\
There will always be stupid people around you no matter what precautions you make! Fortunately, as suggested, you can always block people (right click name / “face” and block).
Also try to ignore them. You can also report. Anet will check the chat logs.
Report bullies – take a page shot of their chat or behavior and report them with the in game tools. Anet has shown it has a zero tolerance policy for breaking its ToS in game and people who do will probably find themselves banned. It’s good to say something here, but be an active part of the solution in game, too.
I’m sorry I stepped outta yer box, don’ worry, if
ya whine enough they’ll put me right back.
If you feel a player has violated the Terms of Agreement in-game, please report them via the in-game support tool. This thread is closed.
