I have a small request orientated around the availability or armor skins in the gemstore. I understand that outfits are easier to create and faster to pump out than armor skins for a quick buck. (Hidden under the whole, “Armor skins are for in game rewards”. I mean where are the new armor sets then anyways?).

But could we at least get the currently available skins cycle monthly or bi weekly in the gemstore? I have been waiting for Striders armor for nearly 3 months now. Please?

If you accept that artificial scarcity is a well-used and incredibly successful technique to bump up sales (as seen in this game, other games, and both online & in brick+mortar shops), then you’ll also recognize that it works best when it’s somewhat unpredictable. While that frustrates people (such as yourself) with their eye on one or two items, it catalyzes a larger number of people to buy more stuff more often, so that they aren’t in your situation.

Thus, whether we like the practice or not, it’s very likely to remain the same.

The silver lining is that there’s a little cottage industry that has grown up attempting to predict when stuff goes on sale. The key tool for this is the data collected by Delsea “I Like Tables” of Reddit.

The most recent reference I could find was this table made a month ago:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/584vhi/gem_store_black_wings_glider_ghoul_backpack_candy/

The data is:

  • Introduction: 15 April 2014
  • Last re-introduction: no data, i.e. more than 18 months ago.
  • Last available: 7 Jun 2016

That suggests to me that it’s offered seasonally, probably in the (Northern Hemisphere) Spring.
