So, I was wandering around Dredgehaunt Cliffs, and I find these rather strange thumper turret things that say ‘DO NOT TOUCH’.

I dared to touch it.

Got 2 blues and some bloodstone dust.

Scarlet clowning around again, nothing to see here, move along…

It does look like something to do with the Steam Creatures.

Do the dragons even exist anymore or are did they all just get retconed into Scarlet holograms or something?

You know….I think I might actually laugh out loud if it turns out that Scarlet accidentally woke up the elder dragons, and that she was responsible for Zhaitan raising Orr, and that these “thumpers” are her attempt to bring Primordius up….and that it really has been her all along, it never had anything to do with the dragons at all. GW2 is the story of Scarlett.

They are in Gendarran Fields as well. If you touch it enough times it kills you. :p

Yep. They’re new. There’s one in Timberline Falls smack dab in the middle of a gathering path I run just about every day.

I got an error when I tried to touch one of the thumpers.

I found one in Southsun. Touching it just pushed you away.

It is located just north-east of the crab-toss mini-game arena.

Hmm, will have to find one now. Pretty cool they’re making these kinds of changes (like the forest/lake changes for the tower, before it was release).

I am waiting for the epic finale – Trahearne vs Scarlett.

It will require a minimum of 100 players to complete the final battle and then, just at the very moment the last of Scarlett’s 1,000,000,000hps is exhausted after a 9 hour battle…

Trahearne will appear and deal the final blow with Salad bowl or whatever his sword is called.

Somewhere, nestled in ArenaNet’s headquarters, is a special counter that ticks over every time someone “touches it”.

And sitting next to the timer watching it count steadily upwards, is a group of devs. Laughing themselves sick.

In WvW they just knock you back and gives you a message… One enemy was so focused on it, he didn’t see the zerg of 20+ people running up to him. So when it knocked him down we all rolled him. Was to funny.

in Thaumanova Reactor Scarlet mumbles somthing about not being a good idea to construct reactors on veins of dragon energy. So maybe she has found a way to extract dragon energy somehow…

I like this. It makes me think that Scarlet really is the anti-Trahearne. Molten Alliance, Toxic Alliance and Aetherblades are her version of the Vigil, Durmand Priory, and Whispers. Instead of trying to destroy the Dragons, Scarlet probably is trying to harness/tame them.

My fervent hope is that Kralkatorrik will be brought back and devour Scarlet for she is crunchy and will be good with ketchup.

Maybe the broken jumping puzzle will work when each and everyone of these are destroyed.

Let’s try to be logical for moment, considering these things.

An engineer’s thumper turret damages and cripples nearby enemies. They That Shall Not Be Touched appear to be really large thumper turrets which are thumping merrily away, but otherwise have no noticeable effect.

Unless they’re touched. Then they knock you kitten over teakettle, sometimes kill you, and berate you for being…well, a kitten.

On the interaction scale, that makes ‘em a little more entertaining than Trahearne. However, unlike the prior Mysterious Object that suddenly appeared in the gameworld, there are no NPC’s nearby talking about them. No disappearing mesmers. No nervous quaggans or references to Norn farts.

The only people who seem to notice them and care about their presence…would be us. None of the playable races notice them, and even the zombies of Orr don’t seem to care about them. The karka are uninterested. The dragons are unimpressed.

We, on the other hand, see something marked “DO NOT TOUCH” and can’t stop poking it.

It might be that the Elder Dragons are more cunning than we give them credit for.

Wintersday related?

Seems a bit early for Wintersday. Also a bit odd for them to be Orr if that is what they are for. We’ll probably find out in a week.

Found one at Bloodtide Coast.
Can we map them all? Maybe we could figure out a pattern.

Mount Maelstrom – The Stychs

If anyone wants to map them it could be interesting.

At Captain’s Cut on Bloodtide Coast.
At every BL in WvW, there is one at north from the northeast camp. And one at north from the northwest tower. No other that I know, but I’m not sure.

Frankly I got more amusement out of these things than the entire Living Story. Good. I like that.

Shame this sense of wonder and mystery will disappear when we find out that it’s Scarlet forming a Thumper Alliance or something.

Next LS is a plague of Scarlet Wurms. They’re invulnerable and just chant her WvW “Die, die, die die die!” monologue over and over for 4 weeks straight.

Prevent an apocalyptic invasion of demon constructs, save a nation from political collapse and a deadly, otherworldly plague, kill an evil god saving the world a third time, and prevent another apocalyptic invasion of constructs only to be completely forgotten forever by history while a blind general who followed you around for a bit lives forever as a god? Must be Guildwars…

The do not touch is a text message on your screen but not a sign or a text spoken in the game. So it exist out of the lore (it’s a message for the player, not for the character). It would make sense for a Aprils fool joke (like they changed the intro sound) or any other joke from the developers but it does not really fit into the game. So not sure what to think about it.

The objects name is “DO NOT TOUCH”. You see it by simply targeting it like you would for any intractable object or npc.

Pretty sure they are here for the next LS. Why they are in the game world, doing nothing for 2 weeks is anyone’s guess though.
