I play on Tarnished Coast server. For 3 days in a row now I have seen the farming areas in Frostgorge being exploited by bot farming. packs of 4-6 characters all moving/fighting in unison with names that were clearly random. I have been reporting this and have been trying to encourage others in map chat to report it as well. Maybe this isn’t what “botting” is, but if not, then what is it? All I know is that this is clearly some kind of exploit and needs to be stopped. We have very few farming areas for endgame mats as it is w/o trying to compete with 6 mechanical rangers killing everything.

I’ve been reporting the same bots for over a week straight now… and they’re still running along in a congo line, killing everything in their path.

Bots are cheaters, rule breakers, and must be treated like rule breakers, aka perma- banned. Quickly.

Honestly I’m not sure if this is sarcasm or not because I don’t fully understand what a bot is. So I see 6 toons all running and fighting in unison. Does that mean that there is one dude with 6 accounts that is somehow controlling them all at the same time? This game doesn’t have a “follow” option, so how is that possible? How is it possible to get 6 characters to function behind the controls of one keyboard?

In case anyone actually doesn’t know, what most people are referring to when they use the term “bots”, are characters which are being controlled by a program which automates their actions. In other words, there’s no player controlling these characters…they are being controlled by a program designed to do repetitive activities 24/7 and transfer the rewards to a central collection to be distributed by gold sellers.

These “bot” programs often do more than just automate actions, they also utilize hacks and cheats to make them more efficient.

Fully agree. Logged onto my main today and just saw the same bots from a week ago still running around in circles at a well known farming spot. Logged off feeling deflated.

At least you’ve got me levelling some alts ANet. Can’t be bothered to compete with them anymore.

To fight the bot, we must understand the bot. We can ill afford another Klendathu.
